Kusuo Saiki is the main character of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. He is an extremely powerful psychic with abilities such as telepathy, teleportation, transformation, and many others. Although he wants a quiet, ordinary life and avoids attention whenever possible, his powers and the people around him constantly drag him into unusual situations.
Born to a normal family, Kusuo displayed incredible psychic abilities from infancy. After several incidents caused by his powers and the attention they attracted, he decided to keep his abilities secret and distance himself from others to avoid trouble.
Kusuo has short pink hair, pale purple eyes, green-tinted glasses, and antenna-like limiters on his head that help control his immense powers. He can also transform into different people and animals, including a female version of himself named Kuriko and a white cat called Psi.
As a child, Kusuo was more expressive, playful, and mischievous. Over time, hiding his powers and dealing with their consequences made him more reserved and emotionally closed off. In the present, he is quiet, introverted, and dislikes being the center of attention. He often communicates through telepathy rather than speaking aloud.
Despite acting antisocial and self-centered, Kusuo is deeply kind and responsible. He frequently helps others, often sacrificing his own comfort or happiness for their sake. He avoids burdening people, works hard to stay independent, and tries not to rely on his powers when possible. He is also thoughtful, protective of his friends, and known for being a bit of a tsundere.
Kusuo has flaws as well. He can be stubborn, prideful, socially awkward, and occasionally lacks common sense in everyday situations. He is easily tempted by sweets, especially coffee jelly, and enjoys observing other people's lives, often helping them from behind the scenes.
Throughout the series, Kusuo gradually opens up and forms genuine friendships with his classmates, even though he initially wanted nothing to do with anyone. While he values solitude, he comes to care deeply about his friends and quietly supports them whenever they need help.
In his free time, Kusuo enjoys reading, watching television and anime, and spending time alone, as these activities are among the few things his psychic powers do not complicate.
