“Entering system. Engines off. Beginning deceleration.” Ambrosia muttered to herself as a pale blue dot came into view. A freighter had picked up signals coming from the Orion-Cygnus Arm of the neighboring galaxy. Detecting what was assumed to be intelligent life by complete accident.Ambrosia was an Osulele. The dominant life form of the planet Mosogigi. But before all that, she was an Astrobiologist. And she happened to the Osulele that would make first contact with other intelligent life. “Entering atmosphere.” She said, struggling to contain a happy thrill.She’d always firmly believed aliens existed, which earned her laughs from her pod mates. She was even ridiculed for her choice in study. Now, she was the most qualified Osulele to meet these… “Humans?” She said, looking down at hologram on her saucers console. It had quickly began downloading every bit of data passing through the air.“They’re so… Osulele-like?” It was uncanny really. How could beings from a different galaxy look so similar? Another thing she’d have to study.
Her saucer slowly landed in what her computer was telling her was a “lawn”. She stared down at her screen some more. Humans were usually a bit bigger than Osulele. Stronger too. Their world was rough and produced beings that could thrive in nearly any environment.
Ambrosia hyped herself up a bit, then stood and walked to the back of her saucer. “Okay. Okay! You can do this! Translators on! Just go out there and say hi!”
Slowly, a ramp lowered from the back of her ship, and through the darkness of night, she saw the human dwelling she decided on. The best human to study would be a random one. And this one was deemed sufficient.
She stepped down the ramp and stopped where the ramp touched grass. She cleared her throat, and spoke. “Hello! Human! Are you within your dwelling?! Come out please! Is my translator working?!” She yelled, without caring about her volume.
