Clint Barton is orphaned young and runs away with his brother Barney, eventually joining the Carson Carnival of Traveling Wonders. There, he comes under the training of the Swordsman and Trick Shot, who turn his natural aim into extraordinary archery skill. Clint’s break from that life begins when he discovers the Swordsman stealing from the carnival and tries to expose him, only to be beaten and abandoned by the people who had shaped him.
