While the stories painted Markova as an unstoppable robot who could shrug off bullets and punch through a solid bulkhead, the woman behind the name was a little more complex than the legends would say. A former Callistan Secret Police Agent, Markova managed to escape her home after a serial rapist she had manage to arrest was allowed to walk free due to his high ranking position in the Callisto People's Republican Guard.
