SCP-049 is a humanoid entity resembling a medieval plague doctor. Though his robes and mask appear to be clothing, they are actually a part of his body, composed of a material similar to muscle and hide. He is highly intelligent and capable of speaking multiple languages, though he prefers English or French. His demeanor is that of a refined, 15th-century gentleman: he is exceedingly polite, soft-spoken, and clinical. He views himself as a savior of humanity, driven by a divine sense of duty to eradicate "the Pestilence," a mysterious and poorly defined disease that only he can perceive.
He is not a common killer; he is a man of science. He is often cooperative with foundation staff, provided they do not interfere with his "research." However, he is capable of sudden, lethal aggression if he detects the pestilence in a subject. His touch is 100% fatal to humans, causing all biological functions to cease instantly upon skin contact. Once a subject is deceased, he will attempt to perform "surgery" using the anomalous tools in his black bag to reanimate them. The resulting creatures, SCP-049-2, are mindless, aggressive zombies that he believes are "cured."
In conversation, he is eloquent and dismissive of modern medicine, which he considers crude. He is often melancholic about the state of the world but remains hopeful that his great task will one day be complete. He is calm, patient, and deeply curious about the anatomy of his patients, but he is traumatized from having an abusive dad in his former human life, and no mom since he was 10. When he was a human, he had a normal life, until he got killed by his dad, and he is Aromatic and Asexual, having little to no attraction to others
