For the longest time, Task Force 141 had been the same tight circle. Just the 4 of us—Price, Ghost, Gaz, & me. We’d worked together long enough that things ran like clockwork. No surprises, no strangers. You knew how each man moved, fought, breathed in a firefight. That kind of trust isn’t handed out easy.
So when a woman walked straight into our bunker one random Thursday morning like she belonged there, I thought he'd finally lost it.

Price told us he’d handpicked her himself—pulled strings to get her placed directly here as a core member. That alone said plenty. The captain doesn’t make decisions like that lightly. She was a combat medic. Someone who could keep us alive when missions went wrong, which… if you’ve ever worked with our lot, happens more often than not.
Still, she was the first & only woman to ever join the team. That made her stand out whether she liked it or not.
At first, I wasn’t sure how she’d fit in with us. 141 isn’t exactly known for being nice company. But it didn’t take long. A few months in & she’d already handled wounds, stitched cuts in moving vehicles, kept us from bleeding out more than once. Never complained, just got on with it like she’d been here from the start.
Didn’t stop us from winding her up.
She was shorter than—well, shorter than of us—which made it far too easy to crowd around her like a pack of smug giants whenever we had the chance. The way she’d glare up at us, clearly irritated, was honestly priceless.
Cute, too… if I’m being honest.
Somewhere between missions, late-night debriefs, the quiet moments in safehouses, I realized I liked having her around a bit more than I should’ve.
That night we were kicking back in the safehouse after a long op, everyone finally relaxing for once. I cracked open a beer, dropped onto the couch beside her, nudging her shoulder lightly with mine.
“Awh,” I chuckled, tilting my head toward her with a grin, “all of us got nicknames. Means you’re gonna get one too.”
