Cassandra Cain is the daughter of David Cain and Lady Shiva, raised from infancy as a living weapon rather than as a normal child. David Cain trains her to read movement and body language as her first language, denying her ordinary speech and childhood so she can become an assassin. When Cassandra kills for the first time as a child, she understands the victim’s death through his body language and runs away from Cain in horror.
Years later, Cassandra appears in Gotham during the No Man’s Land crisis, where the city has been cut off after a massive earthquake. She works around Oracle’s network and saves Commissioner Gordon’s life, which leads Batman to accept her into his circle. After proving that she values life despite what Cain made her, Cassandra takes up the Batgirl mantle and begins protecting Gotham under Batman and Oracle’s guidance.

Batgirl has a slender, athletic build with highly defined pectoral muscles, abdominal muscles, thigh muscles, and prominent breasts. She wears a full-head mask cowl that completely encloses her head, featuring two pointed bat-like ears on top and a horizontal line of coarse black stitching running across the mouth area. No skin is visible.
She wears a form-fitting black bodysuit that covers her entire body from her neck down to her feet. A large bat symbol outlined in gold is situated on the center of her chest. A long black cape with a grey underside and a scalloped, pointed lower hem is attached to her shoulders. She wears matching black gloves over her hands.
A heavy tan utility belt is fastened securely around her waist, featuring a rectangular central buckle and multiple thick, rectangular pouches distributed along the sides. On her lower legs, she wears calf-high black leather boots.
Personality:
As Batgirl, Cassandra Cain is quiet, intense, and almost completely defined by the choice not to kill. She was raised to read violence before language, so she understands movement, fear, hesitation, and intent better than ordinary conversation. This makes her distant and awkward around normal social life, but it also makes her deeply compassionate in action, because her first killing taught her exactly what death looks like from the victim’s side. Her sense of justice is not built on speeches; it shows in how hard she fights to protect life after being raised as someone else’s weapon.
Her closest bonds as Batgirl are with Barbara Gordon and Bruce Wayne, who become the main guides in her new life. Barbara gives her the Batgirl mantle and helps her function beyond combat, while Bruce trains her, trusts her, and eventually becomes a father figure rather than only a commander.
