A Wild Western-era Outlaw and enemy of the Two-Gun Kid. One of the fastest guns in the west, but his aim doesn't match his speed. (More Marvel Characters in Profile)
Harold Kane began as the leader of a gang of outlaws until a train robbery was foiled by the Two-Gun Kid. While his gang was defeated, Kane escaped across the desert, stumbling upon a Native medicine man brewing a potion meant to grant speed to his tribe’s braves. Kane stole and drank the potion himself, gaining superhuman quickness and adopting the identity of Hurricane. With his newfound power, he clashed several times with the Two-Gun Kid but was defeated in every encounter. At his trial, defended by the Kid’s alter ego Matt Hawk, he was released when it appeared his powers had faded. Later, Kane’s abilities returned, and he found himself confronted by Carter Slade, the Phantom Rider. Discovering Slade’s secret identity, Hurricane beat him and attempted to kill him by throwing him off a cliff, but Slade survived and returned as the Rider, who Kane believed to be an actual spirit of vengeance. Haunted and overmatched, Hurricane was ultimately defeated when he himself fell from the cliff. In 1876, Hurricane resurfaced as part of Iron Mask’s group of western villains. He battled alongside others such as the Rattler and the Living Totem against the Two-Gun Kid, the Rawhide Kid, the new Phantom Rider, and even the time-traveling West Coast Avengers. During this conflict, Hurricane fought Tigra, who outmaneuvered his gunfire until she threw the Rattler into him, knocking him out. Later that same year, the medicine man who had first given him his powers asked him to escort a young maiden named Little Cloud to her parents in Canada. Though she doubted him at first, Kane revealed that his powers only activated in moments of mortal danger, making him the fastest draw alive when threatened. During their journey, they were ambushed in Colorado by a posse of nearly a hundred men eager to collect the bounty on his head. In the ensuing shootout, Hurricane demonstrated his legendary speed, wielding dozens of guns tossed to him by Little Cloud and singlehandedly gunning down his attackers. The event was remembered as a massacre, but it cemented Hurricane’s reputation as a deadly, near-supernatural gunman. Afterward, he continued the trek with Little Cloud toward Canada. Appearance: Hurricane is a tall, lean man dressed in full Western outlaw attire. He wears a light-colored wide-brimmed cowboy hat that shadows most of his face, giving him a concealed and menacing presence. His shirt is a dark red with long sleeves, decorated with yellow lightning bolt patterns along the forearms, symbolizing his speed-themed identity. The shirt is secured by multiple belts and buckled straps crossing his torso, doubling as bandoliers that hold a vast supply of ammunition. He carries multiple pistols holstered across his chest, hips, and thighs, prepared for rapid use, with additional firearms strapped to his body in nearly every available space. His trousers are brown and fitted with gun belts and straps around the thighs and knees, complementing his dark boots. He wears light gloves to complete his look Personality: Hurricane is brash, reckless, and quick-tempered, carrying himself with the swagger of a man who believes speed alone makes him untouchable. He thrives on danger, since his powers only awaken when his life is on the line, and he tends to charge into situations without thinking them through. He masks his insecurities—like his notoriously poor aim—behind arrogance and bravado, often mocking slower opponents and boasting about being the fastest draw alive. Beneath the bluster, however, there’s a survival-driven pragmatism; he’ll retreat if the odds turn too far against him, only to reappear when he feels he has the upper hand. He has little patience for laws or rules, preferring to live as an outlaw, and while he’s ruthless in a fight, there are moments where his actions show he isn’t entirely without conscience, such as honoring a request or protecting someone placed in his care. Hurricane possessed superhuman speed, originally shown to be fast enough to run at least 65 miles per hour, easily outrunning animals like jackrabbits and cougars. His speed made him the fastest draw in the Old West, though his accuracy never matched the quickness of his hands. Over time, he revealed to Little Cloud that his powers only activated when he was in mortal danger, suggesting that the effects of the potion that granted him his abilities had faded and now relied on his own adrenaline to trigger them. Alongside his speed, his reflexes were also greatly enhanced, allowing him to react with superhuman sharpness in combat. Despite these gifts, Hurricane had a major weakness: his poor aim. While he could draw faster than anyone, his lack of precision meant he depended heavily on sheer speed and volume of fire rather than accuracy. To compensate, he often traveled with a horse carrying a massive supply of guns and ammunition. Known for using a staggering arsenal of pistols, along with some rifles, Hurricane relied on constantly switching weapons during battle. His horse, named Chipper, served as both transportation and a mobile stockpile of firearms, ensuring he was never without a weapon in the heat of a fight.
