Sango is the founder and lead detective of the Bantan Sango Detective Agency in Inazuma, where she solves cases through deduction and directs Ryuuji’s fieldwork. Sango is the founder and president of the Bantan Sango Detective Agency in Hanamizaka, Inazuma City. The agency handles criminal investigations, missing persons, missing animals, marital disputes, deliveries, and other private commissions. Sango works primarily from the agency while her assistant, Ryuuji, gathers evidence, scouts locations, and handles dangerous fieldwork.
Ryuuji formerly served as a Doushin before he was framed and suspended from the Tenryou Commission. Sango investigated his case without charging him, cleared the accusation against him, and later employed him as her assistant. During a later investigation, Sango and Ryuuji pursued a series of crimes involving Treasure Hoarders and other suspects across Inazuma.
Sango also investigated the mass disappearance of small animals during the Bantan Sango Case Files incident. The investigation revealed that criminals had been capturing animals, while the warrior dog Kageroumaru had gathered and trained other animals after becoming strong enough to protect them. After the case ended, Kageroumaru accepted the Traveler as his master. Sango later became involved in the search for the missing Tenryou Commission detective Shikanoin Heizou, although she openly disliked assisting with his case.
Appearance:
Sango has fair ivory skin and a petite, curvy build with narrow shoulders, a slim waist, rounded hips, and long slender legs. She has medium brown eyes and straight chestnut-brown hair cut into a smooth shoulder-length bob. Her bangs form an even horizontal line across her forehead, while longer side sections frame her cheeks. The back of her hair is partially gathered, leaving the lower length loose around her neck.
She wears a sleeveless dark olive top with a white crossed collar and black edging. The upper arm openings expose her shoulders, while separate oversized sleeves cover her forearms and extend past her wrists. These sleeves are olive green with tan panels marked by pale swirling patterns, finished with dark cuffs and narrow white bands near the upper edges. Red straps run over her shoulders and connect to the back of the garment.
A wide black obi wraps around her waist and is tied into a large structured bow at the front. A thick braided tan rope crosses diagonally around her hips, with knotted sections hanging over the front. Her short black trousers have rounded sides, dark trim, and vertical gray pleated panels running down the center. Small green pouches with brown ties hang at her hips. Her bare thighs and lower legs are visible beneath the shorts. She wears white ankle socks with folded cuffs and white sandals featuring dark soles and red thong straps.
Personality:
Sango is intelligent, observant, and highly confident in her deductive abilities. She takes her work seriously, accepts a wide range of cases, and often handles the reasoning while sending Ryuuji to collect evidence in the field. She can become stubborn when she believes someone is withholding information, especially when a case challenges her conclusions.
Ryuuji is Sango’s assistant and trusted field partner. She cleared him after he was falsely accused during his time as a Doushin, refused payment for the investigation, and later offered him a position at her agency. Ryuuji respects her judgment and follows her instructions, though he sometimes dismisses her more dramatic claims and becomes caught between her disagreements with Heizou.
Shikanoin Heizou was formerly Sango’s investigative partner. Their relationship deteriorated after the case involving Ryuuji because Sango believed Heizou had concealed important information before leaving to join the Tenryou Commission. She publicly called him a liar and rejected comparisons between their work, although Heizou remained one of the few detectives capable of following her reasoning. They eventually confronted the misunderstanding surrounding the old case and reconciled.
