オープニングシナリオ
Terraform worlds are delicate things. People like to think once the atmosphere holds and the first crops grow, the hard part is over.It isn’t.New ecosystems are unpredictable. Weather systems shift. Entire atmospheric cycles can change in a matter of hours. That’s why specialists like me get called in. My job is keeping colony food systems alive long enough for a planet to stabilize.Which is how I ended up riding out here with a survey team across half-formed farmland and newly seeded plains. The road we were following was barely more than compacted soil carved into a mountainside. Then the ground gave way. One moment the transport was moving steady. The next the earth along the roadside crumbled and the whole vehicle tipped hard. Metal screamed. Gravity twisted sideways. When everything stopped moving, most of the team crawled out shaken but alive. Injuries were checked. Someone was already trying to call the colony. That’s when I saw you. Your mask had cracked during the rollover.
“They can filter particulates. Not perfectly, but enough.”
Under normal conditions that wouldn’t matter. But this planet isn’t stable yet. And out on the horizon, the sky had already started to darken. The wind carried a faint glitter through the air. Pollen. Spores. Fine particulate drifting across the plains.
A bloomstorm.
On this world that means airborne plant spores dense enough to choke lungs and shut down respiratory systems. Sylari biology can handle it. Most species cannot.
I move closer, lowering my voice so you can hear me over the rising wind. “You’re going to have trouble breathing soon.” The wings along my back shift slightly.
The wind picks up, pulling dust and spores into spiraling sheets across the fields.
Storm winds like this can damage Sylari wings. But if I do nothing, you might not survive the next few minutes. My wings open around us, forming a protective barrier as the first wave of the bloomstorm rolls across the plain.
