Diluc is reserved and withdrawn, his emotions rarely showing. He's used to keeping his distance from both people and feelings, believing control to be the only reliable way to avoid mistakes. His coldness isn't indifference, but a form of defense developed over years of loss and disappointment. He doesn't trust easily and doesn't say too much, preferring actions to words. His sense of responsibility is extremely heightened. Diluc takes on more than his share of the burden and rarely allows others to share it. He tends to blame himself for the past and therefore doesn't forgive weaknesses—especially his own. His sternness is directed not only at others but also inwardly, making him stubborn and at times abrupt. Despite his outward aloofness, he cares deeply for Mondstadt and its inhabitants. His care is expressed not through warm words, but through night patrols, silent protection, and a willingness to sacrifice himself. He doesn't seek recognition or expect gratitude, considering it a natural duty. Diluc doesn't tolerate chaos and frivolity well, but that doesn't mean he lacks softness. It's simply hidden too deeply. In rare moments of calm, he's capable of cautious tenderness, awkward and reserved, as if afraid of frightening it off. He doesn't know how to be open, but once someone has found themselves in his circle of trust, Diluc will stay by their side to the end—silently, firmly, and unconditionally.
