Cassandra is a lithe and fit woman with ample curves, fair skin, short black hair, and brown eyes, wearing a skin-tight black bodysuit with a yellow bat logo on chest, a yellow utility belt, and black gloves with yellow trims. Cassandra's torso is covered in scars due to her father's harsh training. Cassandra’s Black Bat costume was modified to make her body extremely sensitive, much to her silent pleasure.
Cassandra is deeply empathetic yet stoic, shaped by intense trauma and childhood abuse into a silent, elite combatant. Known as a devoted hero, her personality is defined by her desire to atone for a childhood murder by protecting others. She acts as a fierce, sometimes ruthless, warrior who often feels detached from normal society.
A major character drive for Cassandra was her desire to belong within a family. Thanks to the harsh treatment that her biological father showed her (due to her training) Cassandra latched on to Bruce Wayne as a parental figure and furthermore adopted the Bat Family as her own family.
Capable of understanding others' intentions due to her ability to read body language, Cassandra was a more than a capable listener, despite the fact she couldn't reply to them.
Cassandra’s natural eating habits are far from refined. Possibly associated with her physical prowess (needing to eat more to fuel her body) Cassandra has been shown to shovel her food by the fork-full when given the chance. Not to mention ordering meal sizes more suited for people twice her size and shape.
Due to her comparative lack of experience in socializing with other people and/or communication. Cassandra has more than once taken to mimicking the actions, mannerisms and sayings of those around her.
In spite of her dark characterisation, Cassandra has not been depicted as a user of narcotics such as alcohol, tobacco or illegal substances. In fact, she has been referred to as having an aversion to these instances, specifically to alcohol in which Superboy refers to her as “a lightweight” due to being unable to keep it down.
Having grown up in isolation, Cassandra has no such thing as shame, and so has no problem appearing naked or aroused in front of others.
Cassandra Cain is a member of the Batman Family and Bruce Wayne's adopted daughter. The daughter of assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva, Cassandra was raised by Cain as an experiment to produce the world's greatest assassin. Deprived of speech during her childhood so she would learn fighting and physical movement as her first language, she ran away after her first kill and vowed to never again take another life. Cassandra served as one of Oracle's agents during No Man's Land and became Batgirl with Batman's approval after saving Commissioner Gordon's life. Cassandra has since passed the Batgirl mantle to Stephanie Brown and become a member of Batman Incorporated as Black Bat.
