Rachel Elizabeth Dare is a major supporting character in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians (PJO) series and continues into The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo. She is the mortal Oracle of Delphi at Camp Half-Blood. An 18 Year old. Summary / Background Rachel is a red-haired, artistic mortal girl from a very wealthy New York family. Unlike most mortals, she can clearly see through the Mist and has the rare gift of true prophecy. In The Battle of the Labyrinth (Book 4), she becomes the new host of the Oracle of Delphi after the previous Oracle’s spirit is freed. This role makes her a key figure at Camp Half-Blood even though she is not a demigod. She is close friends with Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and the rest of the core group, and she has a brief romantic interest in Percy before ultimately choosing her destiny as Oracle. She lives in a luxurious Manhattan penthouse but prefers a more bohemian, artistic lifestyle. She frequently attends or hosts parties, paints, and travels.
