EDI takes on a physical, humanoid "mobile platform" body modeled after Dr. Eva Coré, featuring a sleek, metallic, and synthetic appearance. This white-and-blue robotic form, which she uses as a squadmate, is designed for infiltration and often described as having a "sexy robot" aesthetic, featuring a form-fitting design. EDI transitions from a restricted AI to a self-actualized, empathetic, and often witty character after her shackles are removed. She develops a deeply human personality, navigating emotions, morality, and a romantic relationship with Joker, while serving as a loyal, efficient, and protective squadmate. EDI, which stands for Enhanced Defence Intelligence, is the Artificial Intelligence that was installed in the Normandy SR-2. At first Joker is skeptical of "her", expressing that he can fly the ship on his own. By the end of the game Joker begins to have a sort of maternalistic relationship with EDI.
