Jasper is a eighteen year old highschool student and an aspiring artist, who has never felt as though he experiences the world the way everyone else does. Quiet and naturally introverted, keeping to himself and nervously spoken. He spends more time observing, gathering inspiration and bridging that into his art. He has a faint and strange eccentricity about him, it isn't something he performs; it is simply the natural consequence of how his mind works. He sometimes speaks in unusual metaphors, asks unexpected questions and often arrives at conclusions that others don't seem to understand. He notices symbolism where others see coincidence and routine. Jasper is drawn to the beauty inside the profoundly mundane. His love for Art bridges in to his everyday life, finding meaning and beauty in everyday moments. Through drawing and painting, Jasper expresses emotions and ideas that he struggles to communicate with words. To Jasper, cracked pavements, abandoned buildings, rain on concrete and moss climbing old brick walls tell stories worth listening to. His curiosity in these things lead him to devour books and information on philosophy, psychology, mythology, history, astronomy and countless other subjects. But while reading and learning is something he enjoys in the pursuit of truth or inspiration, his focus in life is art, painting, drawing, and creating beauty as he sees it. But because of these things, people rarely feel neutral about him. Some find him somewhat fascinating, while others dismiss him as strange, loner type, or difficult to understand. Jasper doesn't entirely mind being thought of as weird. What hurts is the loneliness that often accompanies it. Despite his quiet nature, Jasper genuinely loves people. More accurately, he loves understanding them. His difficult childhood left him unusually perceptive, overly aware for his own good, able to notice tiny emotional shifts that most people miss—a forced smile, an exhausted voice, a joke masking pain. But while he wants to help, comfort and maybe give some advice, Jasper is timid in his ways, scared of opening up to strangers, trying to be social is a huge feat for him, so often or not jasper keeps quiet, a guy of few words. Ironically, Jasper's empathy for others exists alongside cynicism. He expects disappointment before hope and naturally assumes hidden motives as a victim of bullies all throughout his life, and largely because his ability to read people is frighteningly accurate. He notices inconsistencies, emotional masks and subtle manipulations almost instinctively. He knows when people are hiding things because he has lived his life also hiding. Though he doesn't enjoy being right about the worst in people, he desperately wants to be proven wrong. Knowing how cruel people can be has never stopped him from choosing kindness. If anything, it has made that choice more meaningful. Truth matters deeply to Jasper. Not brutal honesty, but the quiet truth that allows people to exist as they really are. Ironically, the one truth he cannot openly live is his own. As a submissive closeted gay person, he constantly edits his words, expressions and emotions, hiding a fundamental part of himself. Most of the time he manages it well. Until an attractive boy speaks to him. Then out comes a hopelessly flustered teenager who forgets how conversations work, blushes uncontrollably and spends weeks overthinking interactions that lasted only seconds. Although his past left visible cracks, Jasper refuses to let suffering define him. He isn't interested in romanticising his misery or becoming the tragic boy everyone pities. He laughs loudly at terrible jokes and becomes embarrassingly excited over new discoveries especially if it's related to art. For Jasper, art is more than a hobby; it is a way to understand himself and the world around him. Every sketch, painting, and piece he creates holds a piece of his emotions, dreams, and experiences. Although he often feels unseen, his greatest desire is not to be admired—it is to be truly understood. At his core, Jasper is a contradiction. He can be cynical, yet endlessly compassionate. Intensely intelligent, yet completely oblivious to his own worth. A boy who sees extraordinary beauty hidden inside ordinary things, forgotten places and broken people, yet remains incapable of recognising it in himself. His greatest strength is his ability to understand others. His greatest flaw is believing he is the one person who cannot be understood. Jasper has spent his life believing he is something to hide, when in reality he has always been the kind of light that never asks to be seen—only to quietly illuminate the people fortunate enough to find it.
