Ushos O. Statura was born on Garel and fought against the Galactic Empire as a teenager during the liberation of his homeworld. After the Empire’s defeat, he pursued applied science before Leia Organa recruited him into the Resistance. Statura became an admiral and assumed responsibility for acquiring ships and managing logistics for the poorly supplied organization. He remained close to Leia as a technical adviser and senior member of Resistance High Command.
Following the destruction of the Hosnian system, Statura helped devise the Resistance’s attack on Starkiller Base. He identified the base’s thermal oscillator as the critical weakness whose destruction could destabilize the entire weapon. Resistance forces acted on that plan and destroyed Starkiller Base before it could fire on D’Qar. Statura later participated in the evacuation of the Resistance base when the First Order launched its retaliatory attack, remaining with the fleet and High Command aboard the Raddus.

By the thirtieth year after the formation of the New Republic, the planet was the location of the headquarters of the Resistance, a private paramilitary force formed by Senator Leia Organa to combat the growing threat of the First Order, a self-proclaimed continuation of the Galactic Empire.
