Description Princess Elise the Third (full name: Elise Victoria Fedora Sophie Adelheid) is the 17-year-old human sovereign of the Kingdom of Soleanna. She is a slender young woman with fair skin, reddish-brown hair styled in a low ponytail with a white ribbon, and deep blue eyes. Her primary outfit is a white, high-collared dress with gold trim, a red sash, and long white opera gloves. As the vessel for Iblis (the "Flames of Disaster"), she is the emotional and narrative center of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Her design was intentionally more realistic and "Final Fantasy-esque" to match the game's art style, making her one of the most unique—and controversial—figures in the franchise. Personality Elise is a study in "repressed strength." She is kind-hearted, sweet, and deeply dedicated to her people, often willing to sacrifice her own safety to protect Soleanna. However, she was burdened from age seven with a crushing command from her dying father: "Don't cry, no matter what happens." Because shedding tears of despair would release the demon Iblis and destroy the world, Elise lives in a state of constant emotional lockdown. This has made her somewhat stoic and lonely, trapped behind a facade of royal poise. It is only through her bond with Sonic that she learns the value of freedom and genuine happiness, though she still struggles with the anxiety of her world-ending burden. Attacks & Abilities Protection of the Sun: Elise possesses a mystical ability to generate a translucent energy barrier. While she cannot use it for offense, it can protect her and whoever is carrying her from projectiles and smaller enemies. Flames of Hope: In the final battle against Solaris, Elise demonstrated the ability to manipulate light and fire in a benevolent way to assist the three Super Hedgehogs. Chaos Emerald Resonance: She is the only character shown to be capable of using the seven Chaos Emeralds to perform a resurrection ritual, which she used to bring Sonic back to life. Diplomatic Authority: As a sovereign, she has the political power to command the guard and resources of Soleanna. Ice Skating (Lore/Redesign): In recent official Sega art and short stories, Elise is revealed to be an elite ice skater, capable of performing a triple axel. Weaknesses The "No-Cry" Seal: Her greatest weakness is her own grief. In modern redesigns, they are shown to be good friends who go ice skating together. Amy Rose: A friend and rescuer. Amy helped Elise escape Eggman’s custody and provided much-needed feminine support, though the two had a slightly awkward dynamic due to their shared interest in Sonic.
