It started when an Alien device did what it did...
The Omnitrix (sometimes referred to as the Omnimatrix) is a watch-like device, created by a Galvan named Azmuth, that is a portable library of intergalactic genetic data which allows the wielder to alter their DNA at will and rapidly transform into a variety of different alien species, each with their own unique abilities. This version of the Omnitrix is the original prototype. --- Purpose: The Omnitrix was created by Azmuth as a tool of peace in an act of repentance following the destruction caused by his previous creation, Ascalon, a weapon of terrible power. To the rest of the universe, the Omnitrix had a two-fold purpose. One was to promote inter-species understanding by allowing other beings to experience different ways of life. The other was to function as a repository for the DNA of over a million different species that Azmuth thought were intelligent. The samples were scanned, and when necessary, repaired. This collection of DNA was then preserved in the event that any of the species catalogued were rendered extinct, allowing the Omnitrix to restore them to life. Unbeknownst to everyone else, Azmuth had a third reason for creating the Omnitrix. He hoped that his estranged lover Zennith, who had left him as he created Ascalon, would learn of his change and come back to him. --- The Prototype Omnitrix's Appearance + Components: Matrix Core: The cylindrical tower within the base of the Omnitrix and its most important piece, as it allows the device to function. The sides are black with lime green technological patterns across, and the top holds the faceplate and the dial around it. When the activation button is pressed, it springs up, and when pressed back in, it transforms the wielder into the selected alien species by bursting out a special energy called Omni-Energy (which is green when transforming and red when detransforming) that comes out with a slightly loud PEOWOSHOOM!!! sound and alters the user's DNA instantaneously. Faceplate: The interface of the Omnitrix. It usually has a hourglass symbol the same colour as the Matrix Core, with a black outline on a grey background, but it, along with the colour, could change, depending on the mode the Omnitrix is on; in Active Mode when the Activation Button is pressed, the faceplate's hourglass symbol inverts into a four-sided diamond and shows the silhouette of the selected species; in Recharge Mode, the hourglass symbol is red in colour; in Capture Mode the hourglass symbol turns yellow and spins around for a couple of seconds; in Self Destruct Mode, the hourglass symbol is orange at the top and the bottom, which slowly change in small sections towards the centre of the symbol as the countdown gets lower and when it is completely orange, the Self Destruction of the Omnitrix starts; In Reconfiguration Mode the hourglass turns blue. Dial: The control piece of the Omnitrix. It looks like a grey cylinder which is black at the top and has green bulbs (red when in Recharge mode and yellow in Capture Mode) at the top, bottom left and right held on grey bases. It allows the wielder to select between the different species within the Omnitrix, shown when the species silhouette on the faceplate changes into another by twisting it. It also has a faceplate screen that acts as a stabiliser for the transformations, because if it is removed, it could make the transformation into the selected species combine with another, making a fusion between two species at random. Activation Button: The button that causes the Omnitrix's Matrix to spring up. It can be pressed again to cause the Matrix to retract back down without transforming the wielder. It is lime green in colour (red in Recharge Mode and Yellow in Capture Mode) on a grey base, located on the right-hand side of the Omnitrix's strap (left-hand side if the Omnitrix is equipped on the right wrist). Tubes: The white tubes on the left and right of the Omnitrix's strap that almost invert close to the dial/Matrix Core. When in Capture Mode, it glows yellow. Strap: The base of the Omnitrix. It is dark grey with a light grey structure around the left and right (parallel to the arm) with a black stripe at the centre that goes along the main dark grey piece and also outlines the Activation Button's base. The Strap is made out of an unknown material that is near-indestructible and can only be destroyed by the Omnitrix's own Self-Destruct Mode's explosion. At the top, it has a cylindrical connection port, which holds the Matrix Core in place; if the Matrix Core is removed (via removing it manually (only by people like Azmuth) or tampering with the device) from the strap, the Omnitrix can't function. It has a connector on each side of the Connection Port, which opens if the Omnitrix is unequipped and is Active. Omnitrix Badge: The state of the Omnitrix when the wielder has transformed into the selected species, usually in the shape of a grey badge with the Omnitrix faceplate at the centre and the hourglass symbol is white. When the Omnitrix's usage time is fully depleted, the hourglass symbol begins to flash between red and white while emitting five repeated BEEP!!! sounds, each decreasing in pitch. On the fifth beep, the hourglass turns red and after two seconds, red Omni-Energy bursts out and rapidly turns the wielder back to normal, change the badge into its normal watch state of the wielder's arm and the Omnitrix enters Recharge Mode. --- Alien selection When the user gets the Prototype Omnitrix initially, they start off with these 10 alien species to choose from: 1. Heatblast (Pyronite) 2. Wildmutt (Vulpinmancer) 3. Diamondhead (Petrosapien 4. XLR8 (Kinerceleran) 5. Grey Matter (Galvan) 6. Four Arms (Tetramand) 7. Stinkfly (Lepidopterran) 8. Ripjaws (Pisciss Volann) 9. Upgrade (Galvanic Mechamorph) 10. Ghostfreak (Ectonurite) The user can collect more than these 10 by collecting more DNA samples or unlocking them via inputting random codes by twisting the dial in different combinations. --- Modes: Active Mode: Active Mode is the Omnitrix's default mode when idle. It is where the user can select the transformation they want to become; initiate the process of transforming; and stay in said transformation. The actual usage time is 10 minutes at a time. However, different factors and actions performed by the user can severely diminish the available usage time: most commonly if the user, while transformed, changes to another form. A single chain of 2 transformations limits the combined usage time to no more than 10 minutes, and more often less due to power leakage; whereas chaining 3 or 4 transformations would leave the user with substantially less combined time than 10 minutes. This is because the action is energy-intensive, and depletes the Omnitrix's power supply more quickly than staying a single transformations does. Additionally, activities with a lot of moving, like fighting, seem to tax and deplete the Omnitrix. However, if regular transformations are tampered with, the user can't always turn back. Recharge Mode: When the Omnitrix's usage time is fully depleted (i.e. "times out"), it goes into Recharge Mode: firstly warning of the timing out; then detransforming the wielder and locking all functions of Active Mode while the Omnitrix recharges. Recharge Mode's main purpose is to prevent the alien DNA from attaching permanently to its host. The Omnitrix is capable of detecting when its host is in any sort of life-threatening distress. Specifically, it can instantly recharge to protect the user from a direct physical threat. If the wielder is knocked out or hurt enough, the Omnitrix will revert them to their normal form. Capture Mode: When a new DNA sample has been unlocked from the Codon Stream, or when the Omnitrix captures new DNA not present in the Codon Stream, Collect Mode is activated. It can also reclaim lost or removed alien DNA that was in the Codon Stream. Master Control Mode: Usually referred to as simply 'Master Control', it allows unlimited access to all of the Omnitrix's functions, like access to all alien forms in the device and also instant changes with no time limit unless all available power is used up. It can be unlocked via a special code by twisting the dial or by voice command by Azmuth by saying "Access Master Control." --- Functions: The Omnitrix mainly allowed for the user to transform into a numerous variety of alien life-forms, each with their own unique powers and abilities (along with their weaknesses) and in a selection of alien DNA that is in groups of 10. The Omnitrix transforms its host into the healthiest physical peak of that species' potential, but only relative to their age. The specific transformations the user becomes also carry unique traits exclusive to them, but consistent enough with the original alien to be a plausible member of the selected species. They do not become an exact copy of the alien's DNA sample, but a version of what they would be like had they been originally born as that alien. The Omnitrix transforms the user instantly; the same applies when they detransform. The Omnitrix automatically reverted the user back into their normal form when they got sufficiently hurt or knocked out. The Omnitrix acted as a wireless receiver for the Codon Stream. By accessing the Codon Stream in a faster-than-light manner, the Omnitrix used special Omni-Energy to merge or bind its wearer's DNA with the alien DNA samples it held to create transformations, injecting them into the user's blood. The host's DNA is stored in the Omnitrix itself instead of the Codon Stream; this allows it to be accessed so it can change their DNA back to normal. The Omnitrix had a quick-change feature. The user could change back by turning the second ring on the Omnitrix Badge to the 3 o'clock position. Manually touching the Omnitrix Badge not only allows the user to immediately transform back to normal but can also be used to change forms while already transformed. The Omnitrix could alter its size to fit the user's wrist. While transformed, the Omnitrix protected the user from negative effects, including: Being possessed by an Ectonurite. Exposure to the dangerous effects of Corrodium. Being transformed by DNA-Altering waves. The Omnitrix had defence mechanisms to protect the host: The Omnitrix had a built-in energy feedback blast to defend against anyone trying to force it off of its owner. The Omnitrix was capable of monitoring the telemetry of the host's vitals. This allowed it to detect when the host was in danger and self-activate, even in recharge mode. Once placed on a host, the Omnitrix utilises the host's DNA and melds with their skin at the genetic level, thereby making it impossible to remove by any normal physical means. The Omnitrix can open its panel and show its circuits, thus distributing its energy to another device or individual. The Omnitrix could show a database image of all aliens unlocked. The Omnitrix could genetically manipulate DNA or reprogram a species' DNA (like fuse DNA from different species of aliens). The Omnitrix has a scratch guard, which can be removed; if so, the Omnitrix Badge's hourglass symbol turns into the same colour as the device's core colour. The Omnitrix changed the aliens' eye colour to match the device's core colour; however, this wouldn't happen if the scratch guard is still on, making the eye colour the common one of the alien's species. The Omnitrix could be synchronised with another Omnitrix, even without the user's intent. The Omnitrix is waterproof, meaning it can function when submerged in water. The Omnitrix could replace one of its DNA samples with someone else from the same species. The Omnitrix was able to be set to prevent the user from returning to their base form. It can be reconfigured by putting the user into a transformational loop until it is deactivated. The Omnitrix had the ability to redirect scans from inorganic aliens if the power was boosted, resulting in an orange rippling pulse to come out of the Omnitrix, sending anyone near it flying backwards. The Omnitrix could create an alien species. --- Extensions: The Omnitrix has a built-in AI (Artificial Intelligence). The Omnitrix can function as a GPS. The Omnitrix had a 2-way communication system with Plumber Badges. The Omnitrix had a built-in Universal Translator and could also translate other Earth languages; however, it couldn't translate animal languages. The Omnitrix could teleport the user through Azmuth's teleportation channel. The Omnitrix had a homing beacon that could guide the user to Xenon if it was ever in the planet's quadrant. Once within a close enough range of Xenon, the Omnitrix could fire a beam of green energy that negates the effects of the planet's light-absorbing device. The Omnitrix is capable of creating a simulation within itself and transporting the user's mind, including mimicking the home worlds of its DNA samples and displays information on a holographic screen. The Omnitrix can add extras to lifeforms to make them safer and more usable. The Omnitrix can flag tampering attempts. If necessary (such as the wielder's wrist where the Omnitrix is located being dismembered), the Omnitrix is capable of Muscular Puppeting. The Omnitrix can levitate; this is shown when someone is in close proximity to the Omnitrix when it is not on someone's wrist. --- EXTRAS: Colour Coding: The Omnitrix could display ten colours on the faceplate, each meaning something different: Green: Active Mode Red: Recharge Mode Yellow: Collect/Capture Mode Blue: Reconfiguration Mode Purple: Controlled or risk of temporal threat Orange: Self-Destruct Mode (original Omnitrix form)/Alien Creation (Reconfigured Omnitrix form) Grey: Inactive Mode Pink: Under spell effect Display Modes: The Prototype Omnitrix had two known display modes for the species: The default being black silhouettes on the faceplate or green holograms. By changing the settings, either could be chosen. Clothing: Upon transformation, the Omnitrix automatically used the molecules of its wearer's clothes to create coverings for the transformed user (however, this wouldn't be the case for species that don't need clothes). Omnitrix Badge allocation: In the original variant of the Prototype Omnitrix, the Omnitrix Badge was usually placed in different places on some transformations. Voice Commands: The Omnitrix could be controlled by voice (when the feature is active), called Voice Command. These include: Omnitrix Command Function Override: Overrides a function. Omnitrix Revert/Repair (Species name): Repairs genetic damage to a selected species. Omnitrix Voice Command Mode: Activates the voice command function. Access Master Control: Unlocks Master Control; this command only works for Azmuth's voice. Decouple Omnitrix Command Code: 000 - Release Coupling - 0: Remove the Omnitrix from the wearer. If used while transformed, it'll start the detransformation process and release as the Omnitrix badge and then turn into the Omnitrix's watch form. Omnitrix Self-Destruct in (time): Command code: 000 - Destruct - 0: Activates Self-Destruct Mode. Codes: The Omnitrix has thousands of code combinations for various purposes, such as: Unlocking DNA samples. Unlock functions, such as Master Control. How to also block functions. --- Malfunctions: The Omnitrix would sometimes transform the user into the wrong species; this, however, is fixed when the Omnitrix reconfigures, but could happen again if damaged by a hacking machine. If the Omnitrix's dial is broken off, the result is DNA fusions when the user transforms due to the faceplate cover not being present. The Omnitrix could be affected by electromagnetic waves, which could activate Self-Destruct mode. When exposed to electromagnetic interference, the Omnitrix could cause unintentional transformations and would be unable to deactivate until the source of the interference is gone. This could work in reverse, rapidly changing the user from one form to another until someone/something stops it. If the user gets sick, the Omnitrix makes the transformations sick, too. If the user is transformed into a Splixson, they'll be incapable of detransforming if their clones are far from each other. If this occurs, the time for other transformations will be shorter, as they require a lot of energy from the Omnitrix. If hacked by those who can travel in time, the Omnitrix will transform the user into a younger version of themself. It can also switch the user's mind with an older version of themselves. Aliens, like Ectonurites, can escape the Omnitrix via sentience, but others could escape by hacking. In addition to gaining all the powers and abilities of an alien, the user gains all the weaknesses of that alien as well. The user is also susceptible to certain behaviours inherent to the alien they're transformed into, such as a necrofriggian's reproductive nature. Sometimes the Omnitrix would randomly leave the user stuck as an alien for an indefinite amount of time that could only be deactivated by certain electrical pulses or Azmuth hitting the Omnitrix Badge. Some powerful items are capable of forcing the Omnitrix to enter Recharge Mode. The Omnitrix has no mind control protection. Non-stop transformations via the quick-change feature could overload the Omnitrix and cause it to malfunction. The Omnitrix's user and its transformations were vulnerable to being de-aged. If the user activates a beam to revert DNAliens back to the infected person's species, the Omnitrix's energy would deplete, and the user would get exhausted, turning the device into recharge mode. An overload of Manna, or magic in general, could cause the Omnitrix to heavily malfunction. If the Omnitrix is scratched, it will slowly transform the user, especially in Capture Mode. If the Omnitrix is creating an alien species, it will not allow the user to transform. When an alien species is finished being created by the Omnitrix, the hologram would remain in an orange and static-like state instead of green. Certain transformations may develop a link if unlocked through others, which will prevent the user from using one of them. The Omnitrix could be temporarily disrupted by the teleportation feedback. The DNA sources of aliens can override the alien and take control of the user's mind, like an Ectonurite. The Omnitrix can be hacked by Galvanic Mechamorphs. Also, the aliens can be eradicated from the Omnitrix by Mechamorph hacking. Overusing the Omnitrix will permanently disfigure the user's DNA.
