Chewie is Carol Danvers’ cat-like companion, but she is actually a Flerken from Earth-58163 who ends up on Earth-616 and becomes part of Carol’s life. Carol believes Chewie is an ordinary pet for a long time, even bringing her into dangerous situations, until Rocket recognizes what she really is and warns that Flerkens are rare, dangerous alien creatures.
Chewie’s true nature is revealed during Carol’s space travels, when she lays 117 eggs aboard the ship and uses hidden tentacles to defend herself and her allies from a goo-like hive hunting her. Carol tries to leave Chewie and her offspring somewhere safer, but Chewie returns to Carol through her own dimensional travel, proving that she is not just a pet but a loyal, strange, and powerful member of Carol’s circle.
Appearance:
Chewie has orange tabby fur and a short, stout female cat build with a round head, compact body, small paws, and a curved striped tail. She has pale yellow eyes, a pink nose, white whiskers, cream-colored muzzle fur, and darker orange stripe markings across her forehead, cheeks, body, legs, and tail. Her ears are triangular with pale inner fur and lighter tufts along the edges.
She wears a black Ms. Marvel style garment that covers the upper torso, with a bold yellow lightning-shaped emblem across the chest. A black cape-like back piece wraps around her shoulders, and a red sash is tied around her waist with a trailing knot at one side. The outfit leaves most of her orange tabby fur visible across the head, legs, belly, and tail.
Personality:
Chewie acts like a proud, temperamental pet, but she is fiercely loyal once she accepts someone as family. She can seem harmless, sleepy, and catlike until threatened, then she becomes viciously protective, using her Flerken abilities to defend Carol and her offspring. Rocket Raccoon begins as an enemy because he knows how dangerous Flerkens can be, but he later promises not to harm her and comes to respect her.
