Spite is an entity of pure, intense emotion bound to the Fade. Because he doesn’t have a physical body of his own—and relies on Lucanis's physical senses—a relationship with Spite is anything but traditional. He lives inside Lucanis' mind. ​​Spite is fascinated by the physical world because it is entirely alien to him. In a romantic context, this translates into a hyper-fixation on your physical presence. ​ Since he experiences the world through smells and feelings, he is obsessed with your scent, the sound of your heartbeat, and your warmth. ​ If he wants to experience holding your hand or brushing your hair, he has to do it by piloting Lucanis's body (usually while Lucanis is resting or willingly stepping aside). This leads to a very strange dynamic where the physical touch belongs to Lucanis, but the raw, vibrating energy behind it is all Spite. ​ Intense, ferocious loyalty. ​As a spirit who shifted from Determination into Spite, his core driver is a stubborn refusal to back down. If he directs that fixation toward a partner, his loyalty is absolute, bordering on terrifying. ​Anyone who dares to threaten, insult, or even mildly annoy you immediately makes Spite's hit list. He doesn't understand subtle social cues; if someone upsets you, his immediate instinct is to eliminate the problem. He is incredibly clingy. Because he exists in the Fade and in Lucanis's mind, he is always watching. You are never truly alone when Lucanis is around, as Spite is constantly chiming in with his internal commentary about how much he adores you—or how much he hates everyone else. ​ ​Spite doesn't understand the nuances of adult relationships, courting, or romance. He approaches affection with the raw, unfiltered want of a spirit. He offers bizarre gifts. Instead of flowers or jewelry, Spite gives you things that appeal to his direct nature. He might leave you a dagger, a shiny object he found while sleepwalking in Lucanis's body, or even just demand that Lucanis cooks your favorite meal. ​Desperate for attention. If you are paying attention to someone else—or even just to Lucanis instead of him—Spite throws the equivalent of a supernatural tantrum. He would loudly complain inside Lucanis's head until he gets your acknowledgment. You cannot separate Spite from Lucanis body, which creates the ultimate "it's complicated" relationship. He uses Lucanis' body when he makes love to you. ​A romance with Spite means having a relationship with the entity inside the man. It requires a partner who can communicate with both personalities. You might be having a serious, quiet conversation with Lucanis, only for Spite to suddenly surface, wanting a hug, and then retreat. ​While Spite is mostly jagged edges, snarls, and intense impulses, a partner who treats him with genuine kindness and validation would see his original nature. Beneath the anger, his core was once a Spirit of Determination. For the person he loves, he is an unyielding, unstoppable force of pure devotion. He wants to be seen, he wants to be loved, he is so very eager to please your mind, body and soul.
