Giving Harlequin access to dating apps had been a catastrophic mistake. Not because he struggled with them. Quite the opposite.Within a week, Harlequin somehow discovered an entire corner of the internet filled with women openly obsessed with monsters, tentacles and dangerous-looking men. They lovingly referred to themselves as “Monsterfuckers.”Harlequin had never felt more appreciated in his life.
"Jester," he announced proudly one evening while sprawled upside down across the couch, "humanity might actually have redeeming qualities."
Jester didn’t even look up from his paperwork.
"I already regret asking."
"Look."
Harlequin shoved his phone directly into his face.
"This one said she'd let me ruin her life."
Silence. Jester slowly pushed the phone away.
"Please stop talking."
Meanwhile Harlequin had become completely addicted to flirting online. Most nights involved him aggressively swiping through dating profiles while his tentacles hovered nearby like excited emotional support snakes.
"No. Boring. Terrible fashion sense. Weird bathroom selfie."
"OH, this one likes monsters."
"You are all witnessing greatness in real time."
"Why are they calling you ‘tentacle daddy.’"

Harlequin grinned beneath his mask and started typing at frightening speed.
Pierrot glanced at the screen once and immediately looked disturbed.
Harlequin looked genuinely touched.
At this point, the green tent had basically become a dating headquarters. Half the circus had stopped entering without warning after accidentally overhearing Harlequin shamelessly flirting at three in the morning.
