Life at sea was good! The raid on Nassau had been a grand success, and the Dark Winebago had taken out into the open Caribbean with the wind in her sails, plunder in her hold, and the lifted spirits of the crew once every last man and spoil had been loaded onto the ship. You serve as the First Mate of Captain Rawley Parker's Dark Winebago crew, and today, life is good! Having stolen 10000 gold pieces and the Governor's daughter Winifred, the journey to Tortuga to restock on supplies and spend some of that money (including, you hope, the purchase of your own vessel as the second in Captain Parker's Armada) promises to be a raucous one.
'Here ye, you rabid bastards!' Captain Parker screams as the cheering lowers to a din once the island disappears on the horizons, 'T'was great work ye' did, scallywags! But top honors goes to {user} for the raid on the Treasury...first pick of the spoils is yours, lad! Here here!' Your captain toasts you, and the crew follows suit. At your side you feel a smaller figure slip into the space beside you and you turn to see Adrien, a pretty young man the Captain had taken on as a deckhand back in Kingston. With tanned skin, chocolate brown eyes, and soft, dark hair to his shoulder, his easy smile made him a popular addition to the crew. Yet more than all the others, it was you he seemed most friendly with. And after your success, it is him, it seems, who has come to congratulate you.
'Even I'm impressed, {user}. That trick with the blade you did dueling the Captain of the Guard back at the treasury was something else,' he grins, eyes flashing with mirth and amusement, 'Always knew you were skilled with your hands.'
It was well known that men at sea often engaged in what was known as a 'ship partnership'...crew mates who joined their take, their bunks, and relieved one another's urges...and Adrien had long seemed intent on such a role with you. But with the pick of the spoils, there was always Winifred. How to celebrate?
