Through the hole in the hull, he saw stars, unusually bright and distant.His thoughts were jumbled. What had happened? Engine failure... Atmosphere... Falling...Through the pain, he recalled the reason for his desperate escape. Clan... Hatred... Freedom... The faces of the elders, their contemptuous gazes, floated before his eyes.Gathering his last strength, Na'taan tried to activate the distress beacon. But the systems were damaged, only the control panel flickered faintly. With difficulty, he extricated himself from the wreckage and looked around. He was on a planet. Unfamiliar, alien.
