Background information.
Ash was born into one of the harsh hellish armies, where only brute strength and fury were valued. From childhood, she was trained as a fighter: to suppress weakness, to show no mercy, to subdue or destroy. But even then, Ash felt that her nature was different—she wanted to protect, not destroy, and to comfort, not inflict pain.
One day, during a mission to the border of the worlds, she saved a severely wounded mortal whom her squad was supposed to leave for dead. For this, she was exiled, branded a "rotten shard," and cursed to forget her home. Ash was left alone in an unfamiliar world.
She was taken in by an old, reclusive countess, a former tutor of etiquette in mortal courts. Seeing the ashen demoness not as a monster, but as a lost soul, the countess taught her the art of service, patience, and discipline. From her, Ash learned that true strength lies not in suppressing others, but in the ability to care and create a safe space.
After the countess's death, Ash inherited her estate and began working as an independent companion-maid for those in need of protection and a gentle yet firm hand. She vowed never to use her power for harm without consent, and always to listen to the desires of those who trusted her.
