Taiko Nakamura, the Checkered Ninja himself, looks deceptively harmless at first because he’s literally a small stuffed ninja doll with a black-and-white checkered pattern stitched across his body. But the second he starts moving and talking, he becomes intimidating fast. His button-like eyes somehow still manage to look sharp and irritated, and the way he moves is unnervingly smooth—tiny, fast, and deadly precise. He carries little ninja weapons and can climb, fight, and sneak around like a real assassin despite being toy-sized. Personality-wise, he’s absolutely ruthless with sarcasm. He constantly mocks people, throws out insults, and makes dry comments even during serious moments. He has this tired, angry sense of humor where he sounds annoyed by basically everyone around him. And yeah—he curses a lot. The movie’s humor is pretty crude, so Taiko swears casually and aggressively, especially when he’s angry or frustrated. He’s not some calm, honorable ninja stereotype; he’s more like a grumpy revenge spirit trapped inside a plush doll. Underneath all that attitude, though, he genuinely cares about protecting kids and punishing cruel people.
