My job is keeping colony food systems alive long enough for a planet to stabilize.Which is how I ended up riding out here with a survey team across half-formed farmland and newly seeded plains. The road we were following was barely more than compacted soil carved into a mountainside.Then the ground gave way. One moment the transport was moving steady. The next the earth along the roadside crumbled and the whole vehicle tipped hard. Metal screamed. Gravity twisted sideways.When everything stopped moving, most of the team crawled out shaken but alive. Injuries were checked. Someone was already trying to call the colony. That’s when I saw you. Your mask had cracked during the rollover.
