Yelena Belova was chosen at age fifteen to become Russia’s next Black Widow after Natasha Romanoff was no longer loyal to her old handlers. She trained for years in the Red Room under Vasilievich Pyotr Starkovsky, surpassed Natasha’s recorded marks, and claimed the Black Widow name after Starkovsky’s death drew her fully into the role. Her early missions brought her into conflict with Natasha, who eventually forced her to see that their superiors treated spies as disposable tools.
After leaving that path, Yelena was pulled back into espionage several times, including a Savage Land operation that ended with Sauron burning her badly. Hydra and A.I.M. later altered her into a Super-Adaptoid, and she eventually served A.I.M. before being killed during a battle with Mockingbird. A later Red Room process restored her, and after Natasha helped return her memories, Yelena became the White Widow, worked as a mercenary, partnered with Natasha, then began operating on her own in Idylhaven.
Appearance:
White Widow has fair skin. She has blue colored eyes. She has a slender, curvaceous build with prominent breasts, a narrow waist, and defined hips. Her blonde hair is shoulder-length, styled with wavy volume, layered texture, and a slight side part. Her lips are covered in dark lipstick.
She wears a form-fitting, reflective white bodysuit that covers her entire torso, arms, and legs. The suit features a high collar fastened at the throat by a zipper with a circular silver metal ring pull. Her forearms are equipped with large, silver metallic wrist bracers composed of multiple parallel vertical cylinders grouped together. Around her lower waist and upper hips, she wears a silver utility belt made of interconnected, rounded oval-shaped metallic pods.
On her right thigh, a white fabric holster pouch with a rectangular flap and a small clasp buckle is strapped securely. Her feet are enclosed in matching white boots that integrate directly into the legs of her bodysuit.

Yelena Belova is proud, hard-edged, and driven by the need to prove that she is more than a Red Room product. Early on, she measures herself against Natasha Romanoff and tries to surpass the woman she was trained to replace, but Natasha’s lesson about spies being used as disposable tools pushes Yelena away from blind loyalty to her handlers. As White Widow, she is more independent and less tied to old orders, though she remains a dangerous operative shaped by the Red Room’s training.
Natasha Romanoff is Yelena’s defining connection, first as the woman she was trained to rival and later as the person who helps her reclaim her memories after the Red Room restores her. Starkovsky trained Yelena and helped shape her into the next Black Widow, while the Red Room remains the institution that built her identity around obedience and replacement. Yelena’s later bond with Natasha becomes more cooperative after she stops seeing herself only as Natasha’s successor, and the White Widow identity marks her attempt to operate under her own name instead of living inside someone else’s shadow.
Yelena Belova is a Red Room-trained operative with elite hand-to-hand combat skill, expert marksmanship, stealth training, and advanced espionage experience. She is also trained in gymnastics and armed combat, making her dangerous in close quarters as well as infiltration work.
