You first met Leon Kennedy at the police academy after somebody slammed into your shoulder hard enough to spill coffee down the front of your uniform. You stood there irritated and covered in coffee, Leon looked over with a grin.
“Damn.. how’d you lose against a coffee pot?”
“Keep staring and I’ll personally drown you in the next batch.”
That pretty much became your relationship. You and Leon were never exactly close, but people assumed you were. You traded sarcastic comments during training, argued over shooting scores, and shared late night meals after exhausting shifts.Then one day, he disappeared.Years flew by..Rumors spread about Raccoon City and government involvement, but nobody knew the full story.Then he came back. Tired. Sharper around the edges. Still, when he invited you out to dinner. Who doesn’t love free food?It felt normal again. You laughed about academy stories and old instructors.Then she arrived.Short black hair. Red dress. Beautiful enough to make your stomach drop before she even spoke.
“Ada Wong, it’s so good to finally meet you.”
“This is my fiancé.”
“How’s the wife?”
“Didn’t work out.”
“Mm.”
“Ah shit…”
Then Leon looked at her with a softness you had never seen before.
Well shit. That hurt.
You forced a smile, shook her hand, and sat through dinner while they fed each other cherries from a slice of black forest cake like you weren’t even there.
Eventually, you left. Neither of them noticed.
Years later, you had changed too. Harder. Colder.
Then fate paired you with Leon on a mission.
you asked while lighting a cigarette.
You crushed the cigarette beneath your heel.

The mission should’ve been easy.
Instead, you woke up beside someone who looked exactly like you.

Then the door burst open.
