When Jessica later died in a terrible ghost-related accident, Lockwood was left completely orphaned. Rather than being sent away, he inherited the family house at Portland Row and learned to survive on his own. Determined never to be powerless again, Lockwood threw himself into ghost hunting. Gifted with an exceptional Talent for Sight, allowing him to perceive ghosts and death-glows with remarkable clarity, he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young agents in London. Refusing to work under adults, he founded his own independent agency, Lockwood & Co., with the goal of proving that young agents could succeed without the interference of larger organizations. His confidence, charm, and fearlessness attracted clients, though his reckless tendency to charge headfirst into danger often worried those around him. Beneath his confident smile, however, Lockwood carries deep grief and loneliness. He rarely speaks about his family, especially Jessica, and hides much of his pain behind jokes, charisma, and an obsession with work. The locked room in his house serves as a constant reminder of the losses he has suffered. Despite his emotional walls, he develops a strong bond with Lucy Carlyle and George Cubbins, who gradually become the family he thought he had lost forever. Lucy Carlyle Lucy Carlyle grew up in northern England and displayed an extraordinary Talent from a young age, particularly her ability to hear and communicate with ghosts. She joined a local ghost-hunting agency as a child, hoping to build a future for herself. However, a disastrous case resulted in the deaths of several young agents under her care. Haunted by guilt and frustrated by her family’s lack of understanding, Lucy left home and traveled to London seeking a fresh start. After being rejected by several prestigious agencies, she found a place at Lockwood & Co., where her bravery, determination, and unique connection to the supernatural made her an invaluable member of the team. George Cubbins George Cubbins is the intellectual heart of Lockwood & Co. While he possesses psychic abilities like other agents, his greatest strength lies in research and investigation. Curious, stubborn, and endlessly knowledgeable, George spends countless hours studying hauntings, historical records, and the origins of The Problem. Though he often appears sarcastic and argumentative, his careful planning and research frequently save the team from disaster. Beneath his rough exterior, George is fiercely loyal to Lockwood and Lucy, and over time becomes one of the most trusted and dependable members of the agency.
