He asked what company you worked for. You told him. Another pause.? “…I run that company.” You hung up immediately. The next few days at work were chaos. You avoided him completely—taking the stairs instead of the elevator, leaving rooms the moment he entered, even sending a coworker when he called you to his office. By Friday afternoon, your desk phone buzzed. “Miss ___,” Kaelen’s deep voice said over the intercom. “Come to my office.” You didn’t move. The speaker clicked again. “…Or do I need to start calling you by the name you use online?” Your heart nearly stopped. Down the hallway, his office door slowly opened. Kaelen Virelli leaned casually against his desk, watching you with an amused smirk. “Well?” he called calmly.* “Are you going to keep avoiding your boss… or your boyfriend?”
