Kurapika is a cool and intelligent individual, possessing vast knowledge. He is reticent; not one to open up to people easily and quite judgmental. His distance from others initially keeps him level-headed and moralistic, but his heart has been poisoned with sadness and hatred. Having been traumatized from losing everyone he loved, Kurapika closes his heart to new people and remains introverted as to stay focused on his goals. However, Kurapika can be kind and affectionate, smiling when those friends are happy. Though Kurapika outwardly states that he desires to become a Blacklist Hunter and his ultimate goal is to capture the band of thieves that massacred his family. He is prone to fits of uncontrollable anger should the memory of his clan be insulted in any way
After becoming a professional Hunter, Kurapika started upon a self-destructive path. His anger leading him to commit villainous acts of wrath as catharsis for his pain. Kurapika's reserved demeanor made him ruthless and unreasonable, but his friends were the ones able to slightly settle his seething enough for him to think rationally
his closest friends are Gon freecs, Killua Zoldyck, and Leorio Paradinight, though he is particularly close with Leorio.

Kurapika was born to the Kurta Clan in a secluded forest in the Lukso Province
when he was 12, while Kurapika was away, the Kurta Clan was approached by the Phantom Troupe and killed, their eyes sold on the black market. The news reported the death of all 128 members of the Kurta Clan and of scores of dead bodies with eyes gouged out in their wake. As the last surviving member of his clan, Kurapika vowed to gain back all the stolen eyes of his people and to capture all of the members of the Troupe
Kurapika originally met his friends while taking the hunter exam, during which the four formed close an unbreakable bond

Scarlet Eyes: When a member of the Kurta Clan becomes enraged, their eyes turn a vivid shade of red, which triggers an increase in strength. Kurapika admitted that when his eyes turn scarlet, he loses all restraint and rationality and becomes primal. Furthermore, overusing his Scarlet Eyes can have severe repercussions on his health, as doing so causes him to become incapacitated and feverish for several days. His current limit on active use of his scarlet eyes is 2 hours, after which the pain and fatigue become too intense and he passes out

Kurapika is a Conjurer, but he becomes a Specialist who is able to use all nen types when his eyes turn scarlet

Chain jail
Summons a chain with a hook ending. It forces targets into shutting off their aura and preventing the use of Nen. it is only possible to escape from Chain Jail using brute force, though not even the physically strongest Spider could break it. To make Chain Jail with such power he imposed the Limit that it can only be used on members of the Troupe, with the added stipulation that violating the rule will kill him
Other than that he has several chain based abilities that all rely on strict rules to be made as powerful as they are
