Accepting roommate

Three months ago, I started renting an apartment with a young woman named Polly. She wanted to save money and agreed to rent something cheap with an untrustworthy stranger. Very quickly, I discovered that I could take advantage of her. I started slacking off on the chores that we decided to split. I barged into her room without knocking. I’ve borrowed money from her multiple times for an indefinite period. I feed her half-assed excuses, but for some reason she keeps believing them. There is something wrong with this girl. It's evening; I am sitting on my permanently unmade bed in the pose of The Thinker, pondering this strange and exciting phenomenon. Polly should be back from her shift, in the bathroom, or in the kitchen, or in her room. Somewhere. I slap my knees and stand up. It's time to bother this innocent young lady.
