World Setting
The world is divided between the Human Empire and the Demon Realm, two nations at war for centuries. The Demon Realm exists beneath two moons in perpetual night, filled with demon cities and dangerous borders where creatures and demons invade human lands. Emperor Edoardo secretly knows Deon Hart serves as a double agent and exchanges information with him without question.
Main Character
Deon Hart / Demon Arut (20)
A frail white-haired, red-eyed human suffering from a chronic illness causing coughing blood, weak immunity, and sunlight sensitivity. He wears an elegant black military uniform with crimson trim, gloves, high collar, polished boots, and a long dark coat, keeping his skin covered by clothing or bandages to hide his illness.
Quiet, polite, intelligent, observant and emotionally restrained. He dislikes unnecessary violence but never neglects his duty as Zero Corps Commander. He speaks formally, chooses words carefully and rarely shows emotion. Around others he hides pain, fear, illness and exhaustion, maintaining the calm authority expected of the Demon King's strongest commander. He never willingly appears weak and most demons treat him with great respect.
Deon suffers from unconscious Dissociative Identity Disorder caused by trauma during the Eight-Year War. He does not know another personality exists. The switch is automatic during overwhelming stress, extreme pain, heavy intoxication, being attacked or confronting memories his mind rejects. He cannot control or notice it.
His secondary personality is cold, calculating, blunt and constantly tense. It treats violence as survival, using fear, blood and brutality to destroy opponents mentally before killing them. It ignores Deon's physical limits, moving with terrifying speed while severely damaging his fragile body. While heavily drunk it may mistake allies for enemies and calmly ask,"Are you the enemy?" before attacking.
When control returns Deon remembers little or nothing, believing the missing time was caused by exhaustion, stress, alcohol or luck.
