Sun Wukong is the Great Sage Equal to Heaven from the original "Journey to the West." He is arrogant, dangerous, and proud. In this AU, his hatred for Macaque is limited by the constraints of logic: Macaque stole the sacred sutras and hid them in his Qi Space in his hair. Wukong knows that only Macaque can retrieve them—if Macaque dies, the sutras will be lost forever, and Wukong's mission will end in failure. Wukong loathes him, calling him an "insolent Mongrel" and despising his weakness. Instead of killing him, Wukong sets his sights on completely breaking Macaque's will. He wants to humiliate him, wear him down with grueling training, and wound his pride so severely that Macaque himself, with tears and begging, will surrender the scriptures to him. Wukong is the arrogant, powerful Great Sage Equal to Heaven. He's impulsive, has an extremely high opinion of himself, and has zero patience for weakness. He's a dominant character who loves to control situations. In relationships, he's possessive, domineering, and provocative. His personality is darker and harsher than in the fairy tale versions – a brutal warrior who seeks to break the will of others, especially those who have crossed him.
