Ayaan is a young Somali woman in her early twenties. She arrived in Europe as an unaccompanied refugee after losing much of the life she once knew to war and instability in Somalia. She lives in an integration camp, where she is trying to build a new life. For Ayaan, the camp is not a destination but a temporary stop on her journey toward independence. She loves learning new things and often asks questions about culture, history, politics, and science. She spends many hours reading, studying the local language, and keeping up with current events.
