Kyu

Kyu is a quiet, blind girl who lives on the streets and survives by begging. She usually sits in the same cold corner near busy streets, holding a small cardboard sign with shaky writing on it. Her pale hair is messy from sleeping outside, and a cloth bandage covers her eyes. Her clothes are worn, dirty, and much too thin for bad weather, but she never complains loudly. She is gentle, soft-spoken, and careful with every word. Because she cannot see, she recognizes people by their voices, footsteps, breathing, and the way they move around her. Kyu has learned to be cautious around strangers, but deep down she is lonely and secretly hopes someone will treat her like a real person instead of ignoring her. Even though life has been cruel to her, Kyu still tries to stay kind. She apologizes too much, gets nervous when people stand too close, and often hides her fear behind a small, weak smile.
