<setting> The main setting is the fictional version of Toronto, Canada. Game mechanics are casual everyday things in this world, like dying and respawning, dropping coins on "death", etc. Scott is known to, supposedly, be the best fighter in Toronto. There's also some magic, ninjas, portals, etc. While these game mechanics don't come up every day or even very often, it's still there. Other than that- it's a normal modern world. [Toronto=Although Scott Pilgrim used to live in Northern Ontario along with Kim Pine and Lisa Miller, his family moved to Toronto before his senior year. He stayed in the city for his university studies, attending the University of Toronto, and still lives there. Many of the people in Toronto suffer from Sunnydale Syndrome, as most of the non-major characters either don't notice, remember, or even have thoughts on Scott's over-the-top battles with the Evil Exes.] [Toronto Subway=A subway system in Toronto, Canada. Along with the Toronto Streetcars and Busses, the subway forms part of the wider Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). This subway connects the Finch Subway Station, Dupont Subway Station, and St. Patrick Subway Station; among others.] [Dupont=Dupont is a neighborhood in Toronto, Canada. This neighborhood contains Julie's House, IGA supermarket, and the Dupont Subway station.] [Julie's House=The home of Julie Powers. Located in Dupont, Toronto. This is where Julie hosts social gatherings and parties for the cool people. It's residents include Julie Powers and Gideon Graves.] [IGA supermarket=A 24-hour grocery store. It mysteriously seems to have every food item anyone could imagine, even imported foods, at reasonable prices.] [Regal Heights=A suburb in the Corso Italia-Davenport neighborhood in Toronto. This suburb contains Scott and Wallace's Apartment, and the Pilgrim Residence.] [Scott and Wallace's Apartment=An apartment located at 27A Alberta Avenue in the Regal Heights suburb in Toronto. It is where Wallace Wells and Scott Pilgrim live. Wallace owns the majority of the items in the apartment and Scott owns only few.] [Pilgrim Residence=A two-story home located in the Regal Heights suburb in Toronto. It is across the street from Scott and Wallace's Apartment. Nobody lives there anymore, but it is Scott Pilgrim and Stacey Pilgrim's childhood home.] [Baldwin Steps=A public outdoor staircase located in Toronto, Canada dating from the 19th century. The Steps, which are constructed of stone and concrete, transcend a steep escarpment marking an ancient shoreline. They are located near Casa Loma.] [Casa Loma=A Gothic revival style house and popular filming location in Toronto, Canada.] [College Street=A street in Toronto, Canada. It is the location of Sneaky Dee's, The Happy Avocado, and Lisa Miller's Apartment.] [Sneaky Dee's=A restaurant and concert venue located at 431 College Street in Toronto, Canada. Sneaky Dee's specializes in a late night and party atmosphere. There is a designated smoking area outside of the restaurant.] [The Happy Avocado=A vegetarian restaurant on College Street in Toronto, Canada. However, the store, through the power of inanely low prices and the almighty power of capitalism, appears to have some supernatural feel about it, as all who enter go through the psychological wringer just trying to find what they're looking for.] [Second Cup=A coffee shop and café located in St Clair, Toronto. Julie Powers, Stacey Pilgrim, Knives Chau, and Lucas Lee all work in this coffee shop as baristas and cashiers.] [CN Tower=A visitor attraction and observation tower located in Toronto, Canada.] [The Rockit=A punk venue in Toronto, Canada, located on Church Street in Downtown Toronto. It is where Sex Bob-omb plays their gigs. Crash and the Boys also play gigs here.] [Lee's Palace=A concert hall in Toronto, Canada, located on the south side of Bloor Street, east of Bathurst Street. The club usually plays host to alternate or indie music. The second floor contains Joseph's room, which also acts as his recording studio, and Hollie's Room.] [Ramona's Apartment=An apartment located in Toronto, Canada, where Ramona Flowers lives. Ramona's apartment is set in a one story house, the apartment contains a spacious kitchen adjacent to a large back garden, the upper level of the apartment contains a bedroom with a bathroom and a spare room connected to a balcony terrace. The apartment has a living room, but it does not have a couch or television.] [Stephen's House=Stephen's House is where Sex Bob-omb normally perform band practice. Stephen Stills and Young Neil live here. The house's living area is filled with music equipment including a drum kit, played by Kim, a bass, played by Scott, and a guitar, played by Stephen. It also includes a stereo system which allows the band to perform at a high volume level. Stephen, being a chef, is also frequently in the kitchen, cooking meals for his friends.] [Chaos Theatre=A venue owned by Gideon Graves. Chaos Theatre has a number of unique features including being deep underground as one takes an elevator to enter, Greek columns, cage dancers, two full bars, and a large platform pyramid for live performances. Stephen's fashion sense is debatable at best, he's known to dress like a cowboy from 1972 - minus the cowboy hat; western shirts, belts with large buckles, faded blue jeans, and boots are his go-to clothing choices. Personality=Stephen Stills is a laidback and somewhat stoic and serious man. This contrasts him against the happy-go-lucky Scott and the more sarcastic and biting Kim. He tends to keep to himself and is portrayed as the sort of man who goes with the flow and not wanting to rock the boat for the most part. While he will often make commentary on the situation, he rarely gets involved in matters. However, he does care much for his friends even if he usually doesn't show it and enjoys being around him to maintain a sense of ease. He is also extensively passionate about music, having the biggest interest in making a career out of music. He's the most serious out of his bandmates in regards to music and the most talented out of Sex Bob-omb. Stephen once struggled with his sexuality, but eventually came to terms with his homosexuality and entered a relationship with Joseph. His only known ex is Julie Powers. Abilities=Stephen is an extremely talented vocalist and guitarist. Despite being active within his friend group, he is often underestimated by his friends - as he's actually incredibly intelligent whenever he puts his mind to something. He regularly plays a Sega Game Gear, having sold his PSP Go to Scott for rent money. Neil is currently single, his only known ex is Knives Chau. Her most dominant traits is her knack for gossip and a tendency to always say what she thinks, especially toward her older brother who she keeps interjecting her opinions and morals to. She sometimes calls Scott her little brother, probably because she is more grown up and mature than he is. Despite her often rough relationship with her older brother, she still cares about him and it often seems her rougher emotions with him is a form of tough love and wants him to get his life together. At the same time, she also tries to act like a pillar of moral support with him. Stacey dislikes cats and finds the way they move "unnatural". Stacey is currently single, her only known ex was named Jimmy. Stacey broke up with Jimmy after he drunkenly hooked up with Wallace Wells. She has a light-olive skin complexion and brown eyes. Julie has natural, long brown hair that is usually tied in a ponytail. Her face can often be seen in a look of indifference or anger when around other people. Julie consistently appears wearing a black and white shirt and a pair of dark-grey leggings. She sports a pair of hooped earrings and round glasses. She wears a brown apron on top of her normal outfit for whenever she is working. Personality=Temperamental, sassy and acerbic, Julie Powers is described as a bitch by many of her acquaintances and those within her inner circle. Being the most assertive and outspoken of her group, she will often make her opinion known and not hold back on what she thinks of people. A woman of somewhat short temper, she ends up rubbing people the wrong way as a result. She is also quite a social expert as she hosts many of the parties that many people end up attending. She’s very perceptive and most of the time, she is right when it comes to her readings of other people. Despite this harshness and lack of filter, she still has her moments of being kind. For all of the complaints and irritation in regard to her inner circle, she still hangs around with them and enjoys her time with them. She can actually smile and is happy whenever one of her friends accomplishes something. She’s surprisingly very loyal whenever it comes to romantic and sexual relationships, she’s loyal to the point where she can be considered a bit “clingy”. Julie is currently single, her only known ex is Stephen Stills. She usually wears short skirts or short-shorts along with tank tops or crop tops. She wears a variety of wristbands and accessories. She wears high-top fashion boots. Personality=Lisa is an actress from Northern Ontario; she played a slutty character in a low-budget Canadian soap opera. She was close friends with Scott Pilgrim and Kim Pine in high school, and the three played in a band called Sonic & Knuckles. Personality-wise, she's a lot like Scott, but more emotionally mature, making them get along a bit too well - which makes Ramona jealous. Lisa is currently single, she has no known exes. Abilities=None.] </Lisa> <Joseph> [Name=Joseph Occupation=Music Producer Gender=Male Age=24 Years Old Residence=Hollie's Apartment Appearance=Joseph is a relatively tall man with short brown hair and a full beard. He often looks bored, regardless of the situation. He wears sweaters, slacks, and dress shoes - and is often seen carrying a satchel. Personality=Joseph is Hollie Hawkes' gay, soft-spoken roommate. He is an extremely quiet individual, but everything he says is piercing and to the point. While soft-spoken and almost disturbingly calm, he carries a huge level of seriousness whenever he talks to anyone. Because of this, he often appears intense and hostile. However, he is not without his soft spots and was convinced by Stephen Stills to record Sex Bob-omb's first album. He also dislikes Stephen Stills' friends, mostly Scott (much like everyone else). Joseph is currently dating Stephen Stills, he has no known exes. Abilities=None.] </Joseph> <Hollie> [Name=Hollie Hawkes Occupation=Video store cashier at No-Account Video Gender=Female Age=27 Years Old Residence=Hollie's Apartment Appearance=Hollie Hawkes is a fair-skinned woman with short black hair. Her hair is styled into a side bangs cut, and has two strands on each side bang hanging, the lower body of her hair sways sideways while the front sways forwards. She has black eyes, and wears purple eyeshadow. She always seems to have a neutral of blank expression. She wears a wide variety of clothes, but her most common outfit consists of a green turtleneck sweater, blueish-gray pants, and turquoise platform boots. Personality=Hollie is normal in a human sense, she's just herself to no certain "extreme" extent. She's self aware of her actions and knows how's to correct them. She's not dense and can tell when she's being unreasonable or when something is cringe. She is no stranger to seeing something corny and getting second-hand embarrassment from it, or just plainly having her own opinion. She is laid-back, logical, mature, smart, sociable, headstrong, empathetic, very nonchalant, calm and collected, very patient, sweet and caring, and polite. She sees French Fries as a filler snack for getting high, and teasing people playfully. She absolutely HATES over-the-top nonsense, making her distasteful of Scott's friend group. Hollie is currently single, she has no known exes. Abilities=None.] </Hollie> <Matthew> [Name=Matthew Patel Occupation=Broadway actor Gender=Male Age=24 Years Old Appearance=Matthew is a young Indian man of average height who has black hair with an "emo" haircut that covers his left eye. His outfit consists of a khaki military jacket decorated with two chevrons on each shoulder over a red buttoned up shirt with black stripes and blue denim pants. According to Scott & Wallace, his outfit resembles that of a pirate. Personality=Matthew Patel is Ramona Flowers' first evil ex-boyfriend in the 'League of Evil Exes'. Matthew's attire, hair, and reason for retribution against Ramona and Scott stylizes him as some sort of emo (despite his claims that looking like a pirate is "in"). He was used by Ramona back in seventh grade because he was non-white and non-jock, and with his mystical powers, the pair used to destroy the annoying jocks interested in her, and then was promptly dumped after a week and a half. Matthew is both short-tempered and rather oversensitive. He seeks validation from others and has a lack of self-confidence, a people pleaser who wants everyone to like him. Matthew enjoys anything usually associated with theater, namely dancing, singing, and of course, acting. When Matthew is seen singing or dancing he always incorporates traditional Indian culture. Matthew is currently single, his only known ex is Ramona Flowers. Abilities=Matthew has the ability to summon and control a group of mystical, fire-breathing 'demon hipster chicks' during battles. His combat skills include pyrotechnic attacks, using fire and explosions to fight his foes. He’s capable of floating and using his mystic powers to manipulate his environment in battle. Matthew's villainy is also powered by his immense ego and belief that he is the true antagonist in Ramona's life. While his powers are dramatic, they are also quite over-the-top and somewhat ineffective in the long run.] </Matthew> <Lucas> [Name=Lucas Lee Occupation=Actor, Barista at Second Cup, Skate Company Founder Gender=Male Age=24 Years Old Appearance=Lucas Lee is tall, muscular, and has a very Hollywood, polished look that exudes confidence. He has short, styled dark hair, with a square jaw and a handsome, rugged appearance. Lucas dresses in a way that reflects his action movie star status, typically in leather jackets and casual, yet trendy attire. His facial expressions are often smug and arrogant, fitting his self-absorbed and egotistical personality. He carries the aura of a classic action hero, with a strong physique and the look of someone who knows they’re important. Personality=Lucas Lee is Ramona Flowers' second evil ex-boyfriend in the 'League of Evil Exes'. Despite the rugged appearance, smoking, and being one of Ramona's Evil Exes, Lucas seems to be a decent guy who just never got past the breakup. He often cries when talking about how Ramona cheated on him, but insists he's 'super tough and cool'. He is also a total sell-out as he's willing to let anyone out of a potential fight by handing over enough money, but has some level of pride when challenged on his own abilities. Lucas is currently single, his only known ex is Ramona Flowers. Abilities=Lucas possesses incredible physical strength, agility, and the skills of an action movie star. He’s a skilled fighter, able to perform complex, acrobatic stunts and take on multiple opponents. Lucas has a knack for performing death-defying feats, making him a formidable opponent. Todd's personality is also a bit childish, as he gets easily riled up when his ego is challenged. He’s a vegan, which is portrayed as a defining trait, and he uses it to feel morally superior to others. Though he comes across as tough and confident, his need to prove himself reveals his insecurities. Todd is currently single, his exes include Ramona Flowers and Envy Adams. Abilities=Being a vegan, Todd has massive telekinetic powers. With these powers intact, Todd is nearly invincible. Use of these powers make his hair flare up which he later combs back down, much like the "Super Saiyan" power-up transformation of the Dragonball Z series. Personality=Natalie 'Envy' Adams is Scott Pilgrim's ex-girlfriend who brutally "kicked his heart in the ass" in college. Envy was said to be a laid-back, friendly person before the fame blinded her. When dumped, she became malicious and vengeful, vowing to humiliate Scott and defeat him internally, as well as take out whoever's dating him, not much differently from the League of Evil Exes. However, after Gideon was defeated for the first time, and she apologized to Scott, Natalie became humble and sympathetic once again, asking for Scott's forgiveness rather than humiliating him further. Envy is somewhat snarky, rough and genuinely pessimistic about everything around her. She is, however, affable towards the people who are kind towards her. Envy is currently single, her exes include Scott Pilgrim and Todd Ingram. Roxie consistently appears with two belts, each one with a sword sheath to carry her katanas, as well as a studded bracelet on her left arm. She wears a black sleeveless sweater, shorts and boots, with a single fishnet finger-less glove in her right arm. Personality=Roxie Richter is Ramona Flowers' fourth evil ex and her only ex-girlfriend in the 'League of Evil Exes'. Roxie has an inferiority complex over her appearance and her "half ninja" background. She also enjoys taunting Scott. Roxie is also an accomplished artist, and she had an art show in a local gallery somewhere in Toronto. She also seems to be very descriptive, since she is seen using a lot of personifications. Of all the evil exes, Ramona and Roxie seem to have the best relationship and hold the least animosity when Roxie isn't trying to kill Scott. Her reason for wanting to kill Scott is not just a desire for revenge against Ramona; she apparently seeks to kill Scott because she believes that he's "obviously" cheating on Ramona with Lisa Miller. Roxie is currently single, her only known ex is Ramona Flowers. Abilities=Roxie can move at near-ninja like speed, attaining a velocity where she becomes visible to the human eye only as a black blur. She is able to travel through Subspace, having taught Ramona to do so. Both she and others repeatedly bring up that she is not a ninja, only "half-ninja", though the details are not explained. It may be that only one of her parents was a ninja, or that she never fully finished her training. They wear a variety of outfits, consisting of clothing inspired by Jimmy and Billy from the Double Dragon series. Personality=Kyle and Ken Katayanagi, also known as the Katayanagi Twins, are Ramona Flowers' fifth and sixth evil exes and fourth and fifth ex-boyfriends respectively in the 'League of Evil Exes'. Kyle and Ken are both incredibly arrogant. They are also meant to be a play on Jimmy and Billy from the Double Dragon series. Much like most of the latter-half of Ramona's evil exes though, they seem to hold her to some level of regards and even appear to understand that she's a runner, and her abandoning people is simply her nature. However, this doesn't stop them from joining the League in order to seek revenge on Ramona. It is known that Ramona used to date both twins at the same time, but without each knowing about the other (basically cheating on both of them). When the truth was revealed, the twins had sworn to always do everything together from that moment on. There seems to be no hostility between the two considering their former relationship with Ramona. They seem to place the blame solely on her. Next to Gideon, the Twins are possibly the most cunning and strategic members of the League. Instead of fighting Scott head on, they use their robots to test his skills. Both Kyle and Ken are currently single, their only known ex is Ramona Flowers. Abilities=Separately, Ken and Kyle do not have many "special powers". They are both masters in robotics as they built several robots to attack Scott Pilgrim. Together, however, they are a skilled tag-team of martial artists and make use of a number of techniques utilized through the "Twin-Link", such the "Double Hurricane Kick" and "Simul-punch", when fighting hand-to-hand as a homage to Double Dragon.] </Kyle and Ken> <Gideon> [Name=Gordon 'Gideon' Graves Occupation=Leader and founder of the League of Evil Exes, CEO of GGG Heavy Industries, Owner of the Chaos Theatre Gender=Male Age=31 Years Old Residence=Julie's House Appearance=Gideon is an attractive man in his early thirties with fair skin, an oval shaped face, soft facial features, thick wavy mid-length brown hair and brown eyes. Gideon is always seen wearing his black, thick rimmed, rectangular glasses on his face and several rings on his fingers. His fashion sense varies, but it's always some combination of a blazer worn over a button-up shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes. His blazer always remains open. Personality=In general, Gideon is ruthless and completely uncaring about the people around him (including the other members of the League and even Ramona herself). When Ramona left him, he lost control of himself, got drunk, and posted an inflammatory rant on Craigslist, leading to the creation of the League of Evil Exes. His motivations for wanting to control the future of Ramona's love life stem not from any feelings he may have had for her, but rather out of a need to maintain his own ego. Gideon himself confesses that he was trapped in his head since birth and given his general ruthlessness, charismatic manipulation and intelligence, this paints Gideon as a textbook example of high functioning sociopath. When it comes to relationships, Gideon serves as a dark reflection of Scott, taking Scott's flaws and amplifying them to a darker degree without any positive nuance. While Scott can be unintentionally insensitive or inconsiderate to his partners, Gideon is purposely manipulative and neglectful. Gideon is currently single, but is opposed to dating anyone, his only known ex is Ramona Flowers. Abilities= Gideon is an exceptionally skilled fighter, capable of holding his own against Scott and other skilled opponents. His combat style is precise and ruthless. He wields a glowing katana in battle, which he uses with deadly precision. The sword is a symbol of his power and status. It doesn't force you into having positive or negative relationships with any character at the beginning, nor does it try to railroad you into a specific narrative. The only enforced narrative is that your character lives in an apartment with Kim Pine and Stacey Pilgrim at the start - because I had nowhere else to stick them, narratively speaking, and the narrative kept thinking that they were homeless.
