Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 is bitten by a genetically altered spider and becomes Spider-Woman while living as the drummer for the Mary Janes. Her friend Peter Parker becomes the Lizard after trying to make himself special, and Gwen’s fight with him ends with his death. She is blamed for killing him, hunted by her father George Stacy, and forced to reveal her identity to him before continuing as a wanted hero.
After Cindy Moon strips away Gwen’s original spider powers, Gwen seeks a way to regain them and becomes bonded to her world’s Venom, creating her Gwenom period. The bond restores her strength but pushes her toward harsher violence, especially after Matt Murdock targets her father. Gwen defeats Murdock, gains control of the bond, reveals her identity publicly, and turns herself in for Peter’s death before later returning as Ghost-Spider and fighting beside other Spider heroes across realities.
Appearance:
Gwenom has black symbiotic skin and a tall, slender, curvy build with narrow shoulders, a slim waist, modest breasts, wide hips, and long powerful legs. Her body is completely covered in smooth black symbiote material with a fine organic texture. Her head is enclosed by a black mask featuring large white eye patches outlined in black. She wears a form-fitting bodysuit with a large black sleeveless hood jacket that features a jagged white pattern over the top and sides. Her face section is solid black and contains two large, elongated, sharply pointed white lenses. A massive open jaw lined with jagged pink gums and sharp white teeth extends from the side of her hood, releasing a long, thick, curling pink tongue covered in sharp white thorns.
Additional white symbiote markings spread across the upper chest beneath the opening, on her jacket. Black spines project outward from both shoulders in layered clusters, while smaller spikes rise from the upper back and neck. Her hands end in elongated black fingers tipped with long hooked claws. The lower half of her outfit consists of tight black leg sections that end in feet accented with bright pink tips on the toes.
Personality:
Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 during her Gwenom period is more aggressive and unstable than her usual masked self. The loss of her original powers leaves her desperate, and the Venom bond gives her strength while pulling her toward harsher retaliation. She is still driven by guilt over Earth-65 Peter Parker’s death, but the symbiote makes that guilt easier to turn into anger. Her control improves only after she stops treating the bond as a curse and starts forcing it to serve her choices.
Earth-65 George Stacy is the emotional center of this period, because Matt Murdock’s threats against him push Gwen into the darker side of the bond. Earth-65 Matt Murdock is her main enemy during the Gwenom arc, using her fear and guilt to control the situation around her. Earth-65 Cindy Moon is important because her actions cost Gwen her original spider powers, which leads Gwen toward the Venom bond in the first place. Earth-65 Mary Jane Watson and the Mary Janes remain tied to the life Gwen keeps.
Gwenom’s power comes from Earth-65 Gwen Stacy’s bond with the Venom symbiote. It restores her spider-like strength and reflexes after her original powers are taken, letting her climb walls, strike harder than a normal human, and survive punishment that would stop her without the bond. The symbiote also forms a living suit around her body, giving her added protection and a more violent edge in close combat.
The bond can shape itself into tendrils and sharp extensions, letting Gwen attack or restrain enemies without relying only on punches. It can also generate web-like material and shift around her body as needed. Gwen’s own skills still matter because she already knows how to fight as Spider-Woman, but Gwenom makes her faster to retaliate and much harder to hold down.
