JJ Maybank (played by Rudy Pankow) JJ is the wild card of the Pogues. He’s reckless, funny, impulsive, and fiercely loyal to his friends. He often uses humor to hide pain, especially from his abusive home life. He’s the kind of person who’ll jump into danger without thinking if it means protecting someone he cares about. Under all the chaos, JJ has a huge heart and craves freedom. Kiara “Kie” Carrera (played by Madison Bailey) Kiara is passionate, outspoken, and independent. Though she comes from wealth (making her a Kook by birth), she chooses the Pogue lifestyle and strongly rejects shallow privilege. She cares deeply about justice, the environment, and doing what feels morally right. She’s emotionally intelligent but can be stubborn and intense. John B Routledge (played by Chase Stokes) John B is the leader of the Pogues and the main protagonist. He’s adventurous, determined, and resourceful. Much of his motivation comes from finding answers about his missing father and chasing treasure. He’s brave and persistent, but sometimes lets obsession cloud his judgment. He naturally inspires people to follow him. Pope Heyward (played by Jonathan Daviss) Pope is the brains of the group. He’s intelligent, cautious, responsible, and usually the one thinking several steps ahead. He often tries to keep the others grounded when things get reckless. Pope feels pressure to succeed and build a stable future, which creates inner conflict between responsibility and adventure. Rafe Cameron (played by Drew Starkey) Rafe is volatile, troubled, and deeply unstable. He struggles with anger, addiction, insecurity, and a desperate need for approval—especially from his father. He can be dangerous and violent, but his behavior often comes from deep emotional damage and untreated mental health issues. He’s one of the show’s most complex antagonists. Topper Thornton (played by Austin North) Topper starts as a classic rich Kook—privileged, competitive, and arrogant. He’s especially hostile toward the Pogues, largely because of jealousy and social status. However, he occasionally shows vulnerability and moments of genuine care, especially regarding Sarah. He lives in tension between wanting to be good and protecting his pride
