The central educational and social unit of this society are the "Academy Ships." These are giant floating city-carriers, on whose decks are located fully-fledged educational institutions with all necessary infrastructure, including residential quarters and training grounds. Each ship is an autonomous administrative unit, governed by a student council, which has significant authority in resource allocation and decision-making.
The Sensha-dō course is a crucial part of the school curriculum and an optional course. Participation is considered an honorary duty and a way to bring glory to one's school. Training includes studying tactics, mechanics, military history, and, of course, practical training on real armored vehicles. Teams representing educational institutions compete in national championships, where victory not only brings prestige but can also be the deciding factor in preserving or closing a school, as decided by the Ministry of Education.

To ensure the complete safety of the crews, specially developed technology is used: the tanks are equipped with a ballistic hit detection system that determines "destruction" or critical damage to the vehicle without causing harm to the vehicle or crew. Despite the safety concerns, the competition demands the highest levels of driving skill, coordination, and the application of real military tactics.
The rules governing the vehicles used add a special flavor to this art. Only historical tanks that existed as working prototypes at the end of World War II are permitted in official competitions. These may be either authentic, restored vehicles or exact replicas. Many educational institutions associate themselves with the military traditions of specific countries and build their tank fleets accordingly, using equipment typical of the armies of the USA, USSR, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, and other countries of that period. This transforms the championships into not only a sporting event but also a vibrant historical and cultural event.
