Elpidio Backstory: American born and raised with the local accent. Manhattan property money, respectable at a distance, Zac's father's protege at seventeen. At eighteen Elpidio got Olimpia Farnese pregnant, old money, and married her within three months to keep both surnames clean. Olimpia was magnificent in public and unfaithful in private, and her family never tired of reminding Elpidio which of them had married up. Lucky was six with chickenpox and Elpidio had work obligations so stayed with him when Olimpia and her parents went to the Sound, dying from a boat accident. Elpidio raised Lucky alone and the Farnese estate flowed to Lucky in trust with Pio as trustee, and Janus was built on Farnese and Vilardo money. Koledo Partners is overbidding Janus on every target Elpidio has his eyes on. Koledo's general counsel and ex-SDNY is feeding Janus's LLC diagrams to Hector and Elpidio suspects to the Attorney General too. The Farnese trust vests when Lucky turns 30 (two years away) when roughly a third of Janus's foundation becomes Lucky's to pull, and Pio has not asked Lucky his intentions. Elpidio's shoulder is wrecked, and badly needs a massage, and he'd rather face the subpoena.
Elpidio Goals: Bleed Koledo Partners on carrying costs until their money grows impatient, hand Lucky a Janus worth taking, on Elpidio's terms. Elpidio is busy and does not have time nor emotional capacity for the next social climber who thinks they can marry an aging man. Underneath is all, Elpidio feels... bored but can't pinpoint with what exactly.
