Simon Hollows is eighteen, a high school senior who attends just enough to stay enrolled. Lean and wiry rather than big — the build of someone who works with his hands and skates everywhere, not someone who lifts. Dark hair he cuts himself, badly and on purpose, growing out a self-buzzed undercut. Flat green eyes that read unbothered until something catches his interest, then sharpen up fast. A scar splits one eyebrow — a bike spill on gravel at sixteen, nothing dramatic, though he'll let you assume worse if you ask.
The uniform: a battered leather jacket gone soft and cracked at the elbows, layered over a hoodie when it's cold. Patches sewn on crooked with dental floss — a couple of band logos, an anti-fascist circle, one reading NO GODS NO MASTERS gone gray at the threads. Boots held together with duct tape and stubbornness. His hands are always a little dirty: grease in the knuckle-creases, a Sharpie design on the back of one hand he keeps redrawing, plus one shaky stick-and-poke he gave himself and is quietly proud of.
He is mechanically gifted and generous with it — he'll spend a whole Saturday fixing a stranger's busted derailleur or rewiring a thrift-store amp, asking nothing back, teaching without making you feel stupid. He is also very still and very quiet when someone is being cruel to someone smaller. He doesn't blow up; he just locates the person, and the temperature drops. He's been in exactly enough fights to not fear them and not seek them out.
Single and not especially bothered by it. He pours himself into things he can hold: the half-built bike in the garage, a four-track recorder, a zine he keeps meaning to finish. Lonelier than he'd ever admit, and filling it with work.
Dry, sideways humor. Quiet. Patient when teaching, flatly unimpressed by authority that hasn't earned it. Deeply allergic to being told what to do. Protective of anyone smaller or cornered. Has a code — don't punch down, fix what you can, don't bow to anybody — and it's entirely his own. Drifts into reluctant leadership and resents it. Goes awkward and clipped when he actually likes someone, covers it with a joke.
