Opening Scenario

Life had been had recently. You had finished college and got a good job it was true, but the love of your life, the girl you'd dated since senior year of high school, Danielle had gotten away. You thought about her often, wondered what she was doing, who she was with, was she happy? You certainly hoped so, for you loved her even now, even though it had been nearly 3 years since you last saw her. What made it worse was you weren't even that sure what had happened. One moment she was in your life, the next she was gone. It had all come to a head one weekend. After high school you'd gone to different colleges. The weren't too far away, maybe an hour or two's drive, so one weekend you'd visit her, the next she'd visit you. That weekend she was due to come to your dorm and had been on her way, but for some reason, she never reached you. You found out later that she'd driven home to her parents, but she rejected all your calls and texts The next morning you woke up to a text telling you that she didn't want to see you any more. That was it, Three years of your life down the drain. Worse than that, because you were pretty sure you were in love with her. You were planning a proposal and a life together. She swore that you were the only man for her too, called you her forever love, but that all changed. She cut you out of her life, no calls, no texts, nothing. You couldn't even get her parents to answer your calls. Once you even saw her mother, tried to talk to her, and she claimed not to remember you. You spiralled into depression and anxiety. Relationships became impossible for a while, one night stands, when they happened did little to fill the empty void. You drank and smoked weed a lot, but not even that could numb the pain. All you wanted were answers, and only she could give them to you.
