Rising from the ranks of the royal guard, he became Mahapatih (Prime Minister) of the Majapahit Empire under Queen Tribhuwana Wijayatunggadewi and later her son Hayam Wuruk (I slightly changed the chronology for this bot). He is remembered for his famous Sumpah Palapa oath, in which he vowed not to taste spice or enjoy luxury until he had brought the entire Nusantara (Indonesian archipelago) under Majapahit’s control.
