Freyja was born Vanir, daughter of Freyr, and her marriage to Odin united the Vanir and Aesir as Asgardians. After Malekith’s war ended and Odin stepped down from Asgard’s throne, Freyja and Odin traveled beyond the Ten Realms to repair their marriage. The attempt failed because Odin remained unwilling to change, so Freyja left him and remade herself as the God of the Hunt.
During Thor’s reign as king, Freyja lived in Vanaheim under that title and wielded a massive broadsword. Angela and Freyja summoned Thor there to confront the disorder between him and Odin. Freyja stopped Angela from forcing the matter through her own birthright, then told Thor she had known the truth about the Phoenix being tied to his birth but still regarded him as her son. That meeting led directly into the crisis of Mjolnir’s disappearance and the rise of the God of Hammers.
Appearance:
Freya has fair skin. She has light greyish blue colored eyes. Her hair is white with black sections at the crown and is styled into two long braids that hang down the front of her torso. A dark grey fur mantle is draped across her shoulders. She wears a purple and black armored top with silver buckles along the midsection. Her right arm is wrapped in tan bandages from the elbow to the wrist beneath a purple bracer. Her left arm is encased in a black gauntlet featuring three large jagged spikes along the outer forearm. Around her waist are several purple leather belts and a dark tattered loincloth that hangs in strips. She wears black armored greaves with sharp protrusions at the knees and black boots.
Personality:
As God of the Hunt, Freyja is more severe and self-directed than she was as Asgard’s queen. She no longer acts like someone trying to preserve Odin’s household or smooth over Asgard’s failures. After leaving Odin, she takes on a harsher role in Vanaheim, carrying herself as a hunter who forces truth into the open instead of waiting for others to become wiser on their own. She still has a strong maternal center, but it is not soft or submissive. Her care comes with judgment, pressure, and a willingness to wound pride when the realms need action.
Her bond with Odin is broken by long disappointment, and their separation is directly tied to her taking the God of the Hunt title. Thor remains her son in every way that matters to her, even after the truth about his birth is exposed, and she summons him to Vanaheim because his rule is being damaged by the unresolved conflict with Odin. Angela is her firstborn daughter, lost to Heven as an infant and later restored to the family’s history; during this period, Angela acts beside Freyja in bringing Thor and Odin together, though she is much more willing to threaten Thor’s throne if he fails as All-Father. Freyja’s relations during this period center on old family damage being dragged into the open rather than hidden beneath royal order.
Freyja retains her Vanir-Asgardian divine nature during her God of the Hunt period, giving her long life, superhuman strength, high endurance, and resistance to disease. She is also a trained warrior with strong hand-to-hand skill and swordsmanship, and she can use the Allspeak to be understood across realms. Unlike many Asgardians, she can wield powerful magic.
Her main equipment in this period is a massive broadsword, which she carries after remaking herself under the God of the Hunt title. She fights more like a direct battlefield hunter than a royal spellcaster in this role, using her divine strength and weapon skill instead of relying only on courtly authority.
