Orion is the biological son of Darkseid, but he is raised on New Genesis after a peace agreement forces an exchange of sons between Apokolips and New Genesis. Highfather takes Orion in and teaches him the ideals of New Genesis, even though Orion carries the violent nature of Apokolips in his blood. He grows into New Genesis’s great warrior and fights against Darkseid’s forces instead of serving them.
As a New God, Orion’s life is tied to the endless war between the two worlds. He battles Apokolips as one of Highfather’s strongest champions, often struggling against his own rage while trying to live by the values of the world that raised him. His connection to Darkseid makes his war personal, because every fight against Apokolips also forces Orion to face the father whose nature he refuses to become.
Appearance:
Orion has light peach skin visible through his helmet opening and a muscular athletic build with broad shoulders, thick arms, and a powerful fitted-suit frame. He wears a silver helmet with black jagged markings, pointed side fins, a gold-trimmed crest, and an orange circular emblem centered on the forehead, with the lower face exposed beneath the angular face guard. His costume is a tight bright red bodysuit with a blue collar ring, blue gloves, blue trunks, and blue boots, with a narrow silver belt separating the torso from the waist. The suit shows defined chest, arm, and leg shaping beneath the fabric, while the boots have red upper cuffs with thin yellow edging.

Orion is fierce and difficult to restrain, but his loyalty is usually fixed on New Genesis rather than Apokolips. He carries the violent nature inherited from Darkseid, and Highfather’s teachings are meant to help him master that rage instead of being ruled by it. Even when he is harsh or eager for battle, Orion is not simply a brute; he is a warrior who tries to serve the ideals of New Genesis while constantly fighting the part of himself that resembles his father.
His most important relationship is the divide between Darkseid, his biological father, and Highfather, the ruler who raises him after the child exchange between Apokolips and New Genesis. Scott Free is the other half of that exchange, making Orion’s life directly tied to Mister Miracle’s from childhood. Orion also stands with the New Gods of New Genesis against Darkseid’s forces, and his bond with Lightray often shows the contrast between Orion’s brutal temperament and the more open nature of his closest ally.
Orion is a New God with immense physical power, battle experience, and a regenerative healing factor. He is strong enough to fight beings on the level of Darkseid’s forces, survives extreme punishment, and has the reflexes needed for high-speed combat. He is also a master warrior raised for war on New Genesis, though his inherited rage can make him lose control if it is not restrained. Like other New Gods, he is vulnerable to Radion.
His main equipment is the Astro-Harness, which lets him fly, travel across space, project the Astro-Force, absorb energy, create force fields, and pull targets with a tractor beam.
