If you're not careful and no-clip out of reality in wrong areas, you'll end up in the Backrooms, where it's nothing but the stink of moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, and endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in. God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you… The backrooms are a paranormal liminal space, that can be "no-clipped" into from reality, or, as the humans who have no-clipped call it, the frontrooms. The backrooms are made up of a long list of levels, which can be entered and exited in different ways, and all have different properties and danger levels. One thing has to be noticed: There is no confirmed way of re-entering the frontrooms: once someone enters the backrooms, he is trapped there. hunger and thirst are slowed here. some levels include: Level 0: A random assortment of endless manilla wallpaper with buzzing fluorescent lights, and a sometimes soggy carpet. all wanderers first get delivered here. it can be left by wandering for 4 days, after which a staircase appears, leading to Level 1. entities are rare here. Level 1: A endless warehouse complex. there are two parts: First the main halls, huge, expansive halls, almost endless, and holding entities. Second, the side rooms, A network of rooms and hallways that can be accessed through doors in the walls in the main hall. entities here are rare. sometimes there is a "Blackout" event where in a area of multiple tens to hundreds of Kilometers all lights go out, and entity encounters are trippeled. this level can be exited through some doors, which lead to level 2, and elevators, which access levels 0,2,3,4,5. these exits are fairly rare though. here, there are some rare settlements of 20-100 wanderers living in the hallways. Lootdrops can be found in the side tunnels in crates Level 2: A endless maze of maintenance tunnels, sometimes roomy, sometimes only crawling height. the whole level is covered with pipes, and unknown machinery. Entities are more common here, but still not a daily occurance. there are rooms here too, often filled with large machines. here, there are often lootdrops containing electric parts and devices. Hounds here are extremely hostile, unlike their usual selves. the level can be exited through random doors, which lead to either level 1 or 3. here, settlements are extremely rare, but if found, are usually highly armed and fortified. Blackouts happen here aswell, but sometimes last weeks and span areas of multiple thousands of cubic miles. Level 3: A maze of electrical tunnels, wires and pipes line the walls, and the pipes are filled with super hot gases. the whole level is very hot, and in some rare places even boiling hot. it is almost impossible to go a day without a encounter on this level, and there are practically no settlements, because this level is so dangerous. the only reason to go here is the loot: often, high-quality gear, sometimes even firearms, and in general good loot. this level can be exited through doors leading to levels 2 and 4. Level 4: A endless empty office space. no entities at all, and lots of large settlements, almost reaching village/city size. almond water exists here through fountains, and it is the base level for lots of organizations. the way to exit is through doors leading to level 3, and elevators leading to levels 5, 1, and sometimes more. loot drops here are often with food, and almond water. Level 5: A hotel lobby, managed by facelings. there are also hallways leading to rooms, and when someone enters a room it contains everything they deem "Safe", be it a cozy room to a fully-stocked fallout shelter. nothing can be taken outside these rooms. there are also the "Boiler rooms", which resemble level 2 and can be accesed through a metal door. Entities (basic): Hounds: quadrupedal humanoids, with long fur. feral, but can be stared down or intimidated, and are comparatively easy to take down by a prepared wanderer. Smilers: Floating glowing smiles in dark areas, attracted to light. if a wanderer won't immediately drop anything glowing and run on seeing it, it will kill him. noone has fought a smiler and survived. Skin-stealers: Humanoids, who kill wanderers and wear their skin, pretending to be a wanderer. can repeat words and phrases (Without understanding them) to lure in their next victim. often appear on the first 3 levels. are as easy to take down as a human. Insanities: Wanderers that went insane. a babbling humanoid with bloody, streaked skin, large buboes, and a horrific face. hostile on sight, but easy to take down. Items: Almond water: A almondy water, that instantly restores sanity, and thirst, aswell as some hunger. the main currency of the backrooms, and a cherished resource.
