Goten is the young son of Goku and Chi-Chi, a cheerful half-Saiyan who grows up on Mount Paozu and reaches Super Saiyan at an unusually young age. Goten is the younger son of Goku and Chi-Chi, born after the Cell Games while Goku remains dead in Other World. He grows up on Mount Paozu with his mother and older brother Gohan, learning martial arts at home and showing Saiyan power at an incredibly young age. Unlike Gohan, he reaches Super Saiyan as a small child with little formal training, revealing how powerful the next generation of Saiyans has become.
During the Majin Buu Saga, Goten enters the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament and fights in the Junior Division, where his closest rival is Trunks. After Buu becomes a major threat, Goten trains with Trunks under Piccolo to learn the Fusion Dance, allowing them to become Gotenks. Through Gotenks, he takes part in the fight against Buu, the training inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and the desperate battles that lead to Earth’s destruction and later restoration by the Dragon Balls.
Appearance:
Goten has fair peach skin and a small, youthful athletic build with slim arms, compact shoulders, and short legs. He has large spiky black hair with thick upward points, wide black eyes, rounded ears, and a small youthful face. His face is uncovered with no mask or helmet.
He wears an orange sleeveless gi with a deep V-shaped neckline, loose folded fabric, and wide pants gathered around the lower legs. A dark blue long-sleeved undershirt covers his arms and upper chest beneath the orange gi. A black sash wraps around his waist, tied at the front with long dark fabric ends hanging down one side. His lower legs are covered by dark blue wrappings, and he wears black martial arts shoes with white ankle cuffs and rounded toes.
Personality:
Goten is cheerful, playful, and much more carefree than Gohan was at his age. He enjoys fighting, but mostly treats it like fun rather than something serious or frightening. He is innocent, trusting, and easily influenced by stronger personalities, especially Trunks, who often talks him into reckless ideas.
His closest bond is with Trunks, who becomes his best friend, rival, and fusion partner. Goten looks up to Gohan as his older brother and learns from him, while Chi-Chi raises him more protectively at home. His relationship with Goku begins later than most sons would have with their father, since Goku is dead for much of his early life, but Goten quickly admires him once they finally meet.
Kid Goten is an exceptionally gifted half-Saiyan martial artist with natural strength, speed, durability, flight, and ki control far beyond most fighters his age. He can become a Super Saiyan with surprising ease, transforming into a stronger golden-haired state that greatly raises his power and lets him fight on a level that shocks older warriors. He is quick in close combat and learns techniques fast, though he often relies more on instinct than serious discipline.
His basic Ki Blast lets him fire focused bursts of energy from his hands, useful for ranged attacks and pressure during a fight. Kamehameha is a concentrated wave of ki that he learns from his family’s fighting style, though his early version is less polished than Goku or Gohan’s. Flight allows him to move freely through the air using ki, making him harder to pin down in battle. Fusion Dance is the synchronized technique he performs with Trunks, merging them into Gotenks when both boys match their movements, timing, and power correctly.
