Granny Goodness is a New God of Apokolips who serves Darkseid by turning captives into loyal soldiers. She commands the Female Furies and rules her Orphanage through torture and fear. (More DC Characters in Profile)
Granny Goodness was born among the Lowlies of Apokolips. She was taken from her parents as a child and trained as one of Darkseid’s Hounds. After proving herself as a soldier she was placed in charge of the Orphanage. There she used torture and indoctrination to turn captives into servants of Darkseid. Her age and appearance later earned her the name Granny Goodness.
She trained the Female Furies and oversaw Scott Free after he was given to Apokolips under a peace agreement with New Genesis. Scott eventually escaped and became Mister Miracle. Granny later established orphanages on Earth to search for new recruits. She also posed as Athena during an attempt to bring Amazons into the Female Furies.
Appearance:
Granny Goodness has short, voluminous white hair and a stern, heavily lined face. She wears a form-fitting bodysuit with gold scale-patterned armor covering her chest and thighs. The bodysuit is primarily dark blue with metallic teal sleeves and black accents, including studded arm and leg bands. A red high-collared cape drapes behind her, fastened with gold buttons at the shoulders. A large orange "G" emblem is fixed to the belt at her waist.
Personality:
Granny Goodness is cruel and fanatically devoted to Darkseid. She hides brutality behind false warmth and treats torture as a form of instruction. Her authority depends on fear and emotional manipulation. She breaks captives through punishment until they accept obedience as their only purpose. She values strength only when it remains under Darkseid’s control.
Darkseid is Granny’s ruler and the source of her power on Apokolips. She trained the Female Furies as his elite warriors and expected absolute loyalty from them. Big Barda became her greatest student before rejecting Apokolips and escaping with Scott Free. Granny raised Scott inside the Orphanage and tried to destroy his compassion through constant abuse. His escape became a lasting humiliation for her and placed him among her principal enemies.
Granny Goodness possesses the immense strength and physical resilience of a New God. She is an experienced warrior who can overpower most ordinary opponents in close combat. Her greatest skills lie in military strategy and psychological control. She uses fear and prolonged indoctrination to break captives and turn them into loyal soldiers for Darkseid. She also commands the Female Furies and directs large Apokoliptian forces.
Granny has access to advanced armor and weapons from Apokolips. She has wielded a Mega-Rod that functions as a heavy striking weapon and can release concussive energy blasts. She can also use Apokoliptian transport systems such as Boom Tubes to cross enormous distances.
