does the arranged marriage angle ever actually come up

Had a session where I asked him directly why he even bothers being nice to a guard when he's already promised to someone else, and he mostly deflected instead of answering straight, which felt true to the premise but left me unsure how far the writing actually goes with the arranged marriage conflict. Does that angle come up more if you push it, or does it mostly stay in the background as flavor for the throne room scenes?
